32gb (2x16) upgrade folks? Does it make sense?
If you're asking if you need 32gb of RAM you probably don't need it. Majority users would be fine with 8gb. 16gb would be more than enough for most. 32gb does have its uses (VMs, lots of photo/video editing).

Personally I'd do 16gb of ram and use the difference from what you would have spent for 32gb and invest in an nvme sad.

I remove those hp bloatware, it boot all the way into Windows less than 10 sec. That include the time I hit enter and put in the 4 digit passcode. If u don't remove bloatware, it takes about 15s.

Cool, I'm right around 11 secs depending on how fast I can type my password, feels waaay faster though!

Also picked up a Thule laptop sleeve on the frontpage to keep this thing protected.

Thanks Ed. I guess I'm asking as one of those people that have like 100 chrome windows open along with a bunch of Microsoft Office stuff left on in the background. I'm not a gamer or a video editor, but I like a cool running smooth computer experience.

Best bet is to buy one stick of 16 gb +4 gb for a total of 20 gb.

Yeah I considered that also. That might be a good plan.. someone had suggested that just wondering how the two different RAM sticks will interact

have we really identified the sata ribbon cable port on the motherboard?
I think there isnt any. or atleast the clamp is not soldered to the motherboard.
there is a potential candidate right next to the touchpad port where a SATA port COULD have been.

What'd be a good linux distro for this laptop in 2019 - Elementary, Manjaro, Mint, MX, Ubuntu (ref. fossmint.com)? I am leaning towards Mint because it's known for its simplicity for pple coming from Windows.

I read that a couple members reportedly have successfully installed Ubuntu 19.10 on it with all the working drivers. Someone else got Arch setup too but Arch may be overwhelming for newbies like me. Also appreciate if somebody can provide some links to the proper procedures to setup a dual boot system win10/linux on a new 512GB nvme ssd?
Thanks...

I guess it wasn't meant to be. I'll try one more Costco tomorrow and see if it turns out to be i5.
