How is the track pad on this machine?? Is it decent? Does it make a loud click when pressed?
Just started using mine tonight. The pad works, but it almost feels loose. It moves/depresses very slightly - when touched lightly then there's the audible click with a heftier push. Not really liking it. It's like there are two levels of touch. And this is NOT the same as just moving the mouse pointer around, which works fine. Anyone else? Or is this a feature, I should've read about in the Owner's Guide?

You need double-check the "right" socket on the board to find a right cable for it...............

I just tried to install a second HDD but the cable from the previous gen doesn't fit the socket provided. Any idea what this socket is for?

Seems the build quality is all over the map. Maybe I'm just lucky but have no loud fan problem, touch pad seems fine. Have not uninstalled any bloatware and everything stock. Using MS Edge browser with 10 tabs opened and youtube playing. Ditched Win10-S right away so I could download stuff I need. Those are my parameters.
Anybody else have same experience?

Dell Inspiron 14 5000 2-in-1 Laptop: AMD Ryzen 5 3500U, 14" 1080p IPS Touchscreen, 1x8GB DDR4 upgradable (2 slots), 128GB SSD, Vega 8, Type-C, Backlit Keyboard, 3-cell, Win 10 $399.99

Just wonder whether the Dell is better built (metal vs. plastic, touchscreen, graphic)? and worth $120 more?

The inspiron 5000 definitely has better build quality. I would say the 3500 performs as well as this. You get a good touchscreen and 8gb RAM for $120 more. so it is really upto your preference.

Had the other laptop been priced less than $300 with a surprise upgrade to 3500u in place of a 3200u, it would have sold like crazy too Wink

If you want metal (magnesium) construction consider the Motile deal. It's dropped to $380 for the Ryzen 5 with case and mouse.

Accepted practice, so no...as long as you don't break anything like the RAM tabs or the back cover tabs (e.g., if you miss a screw and force it).

Just be gentle. It isn't made of iron.
A lot of plastic, even the slots that take the RAM and SSD.
Watch a few good YouTube videos for demonstration.
Thank you for the reply and the link!

Same issue, and I really don't like the feel of the track pad. A great deal I suppose but i am considering returning it because the track pad is annoying me so much.

i think the deal might be dead or dying in store. stopped by costco on the way home from work and tried to buy the laptop. they said 3 hours ago they discovered it was the wrong product and was an i5 and not an i3 like advertised and notified corporate. they had 46 in stock still.

i asked to speak to a manager and asked him if he would sell it to me since they still had the display one listed. i just said "if it was noticed 3 hours ago as a price or item mistake wouldn't you have taken the display and price tag away?" i wasn't pissed or anything, just asked and told him i was cool if he didn't want to sell it to me and he'd save me $300 haha. he gave it to me and removed the demo unit from the display. if i didn't get it i would have tried another costco tomorrow.

Shoot which costco?
