Got to follow the directions to get it updated and remove crapware. Then add 4GB. Will then have plenty of overhead and be snappy!
Ordered a 16GB stick last night and it should arrive today. I'll also find the post about doing a fresh install of Windows10 and the drivers, and do that tonight as well. I'll report back with results!

lol. I had that thought too when I bought this laptop. It's going to be awhile until we even get a release date.

I dont think it is. I got my laptop yesterday and I was able to get the passmark scores of 8000+. My score jumped by 200 points ( Final Score 8200) after I undervolted using ThrottleStop.

Also for the Fan Noise - I have all Hp Services Enabled and the fan does not kick in if you are doing light activity.

No, not this adaptor. The popular display link docking stations will work, e.g. dell D6000.

I thought you would need Dell 3100 since dell 6000 requires usb-c?

Like the docking station linked below? I wonder if you could connect 3 monitors with it.

How much lower in *C were you expecting?
There seems to be a lot of paste originally even though the die is slightly off, so I will probably try other options first to limit the fan.
The other methods you are referring to is to put heatsinks on it?

I've seen 6 of them unboxed in person now. 5 of them had a loose/rattling touchpad. I posted photos and instructions on how to fix it. It's quite an easy fix, surprisingly. If you're going to open it up to upgrade anyway, you may as well just shim the touchpad so it's not loose, instead of exchanging the entire laptop. Instructions here:

Can you post a video on what you mean by loose and ratting on the trackpad?

Yo stop posting this HP since it isn't even in the same league as this.

The i5 is the lower tier g1 compare to this g4
The screen resolution is 720p and non IPS

Anyone else's order stuck on "received"? Its been 48hrs and haven't received a confirmation or cancellation email but I can see my cc was charged.

I'm tempted to call costco customer service for an update but I don't want to break #1 rule of slick-deals

Edit: finally received confirmation email!

For everyone that is trying to make fans run less,

First of all this is i5 and powerfull, even that is only 15W CPU it will produce heat, thats 4 cores - 8 threats, double the i3

If you realy want to make a litle bit of temperature drop, google some repaste youtube videos and do that, should drop temps 5-10° and somehow reduce the need of the fans to run.

Obviously debloating will help, because CPU will have to work less, so unninstall programs you wont be using, specialy HP stuff and Antivirus, only leave HP assistant for the drivers in future.

The guy that said open Task Manager and turn off the 4 HP services that are running from post #494 i see mentioned everywhere, thats cool and all but when you reboot they will be back up and running..

What you need to do is this:

1. Click on start Menu and navigate to "Windows System" folder
2. Expand it and click on "Run" program
3. Type "msconfig" (without the " ") and hit Enter
4. A new window will open, navigate to "Services" Tab
5. Click on the "Status" tab of that window and sort it by Running
6. There you will see the 4 HP Services running, uncheck the checkmarks
7. Hit "Apply"
8. Restart

Attaching Screenshot of it, take a look

Those will not be back unless you repeat this process above and check the boxes once again.

All and all, it does run hot, i play some WoW on it, and runs it at 60 frames 1080p on minimal setting with just the 4GB RAM it came with, but does get realy hot..

For the price of $280+tax it cant be beat, and wont be a better deal this year, this was like price mistake by $150+
If you using it on a desk, not burning your lap, and dont mind the fans when the CPU is under load its great, otherwise might have to return it, is just not cooling well for heavier work.

OK now give me some internet points
You can disable services on startup by right clicking on them, clicking properties, and setting Startup Type to disabled.
