Canon EOS R Body + Mount Adapter EF-EOS R + 32GB SD card - YMMV - Canon Customer Loyalty Program $1525.56

This is YMMV, but I believe easy to replicate.
Here are the steps I took:

1. Call Canon sales:1-800-385-2155, and say you want to purchase the EOS-R, and ask about the customer loyalty program.
2. You need to currently own a Canon camera and supply them with the serial number. The camera needs to be defective or at end of life.
3. I was given 20% off of the Eos-R sale price of $1,799. Not the base price, but the actual Black Friday sale price. The advertised discount is 15% off, but I didn't ask why I received 20%.
4. You must purchase over the phone and with a credit card.

This is a huge steal over buying gray market and needing to buy an adapter and extended warranty separately.

Nice find man. Actually it was user ninongjhey in this thread
https://slickdeals.net/f/13622041-canon-eos-r-mirrorless-digital-camera-body-only-1449
who found it first, but nevertheless thank you for making separate post.

CORRECTION:

I did recalculate lens price if you buy rf-24-105mm-f4-l-is-usm as a kit lens

https://shop.usa.canon.com/shop/e...m-lens-kit

With 20% discount kit comes $2159.20 before taxes, Body only is $1439.20, difference is $720 (not $635 as I wrote before, for some reason I forgot to subtract OP taxes from the price)

Cheapest ever price on Amazon is $899 (actually current price), B&H and Adorama are the same
https://www.amazon.com/Canon-RF-2...DER&sr=8-1

IMHO it certainly worth $720 brand new. Unless you have pretty good selection of Canon L glass, you may consider buying kit instead of body only.

May I ask why you did not go with EOS R RF 24–105mm F4 L IS USM Kit for 20% OFF and bought body only? Total price for the kit with 20% discount would be $2160 before taxes, so $2160-$1525= $635 for the lens. RF 24–105mm F4 L IS USM is priced everywhere at $800, so $635 is a great price for new L lens, especially one that was designed for the camera and does not need adapter

I appreciate the credit, although not necessary! Smilie

Edit: I just noticed that your link was my comment on the grey market one from ebay. Here's the link to my actual post.

Hey nino, I didn't see that you had started a separate thread for this. I was just trying to make it easier for everyone to see. Didn't mean to steal your thunder!

I have a bunch of glass already, and didn't need to spend the extra dough on it.

Just curious, why did you get EOS R instead of A7 III which is about $100-150 more? If you want to continue using canon lens, just get Sigma MC-11 adapter for $149. So all together it's $250 difference.

My understanding is that you then need to ship the EoL/defective camera back to them or else be charge back the discount. Can anyone confirm? Also assume the trade in had to be a canon product.

This was not a trade-in program, and there was zero talk of returning the defective camera. They just verify the serial number.

Familiarity. I've been using Canon cameras for decades, and there wasn't enough reason to switch. Especially with the updated reviews after the latest firmware update.

Oh, that is great. I have an original Canon digital rebel that I would like to keep for posterity and was worried I would have to send it back in. Thanks for the reply! Other places I read about said about the returning being necessary. https://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/52481130

Maybe it has changed since this was posted.

Tip from a pro... canon EF glass works way better on the eos r than on sony with an adaptor. Even better than the 5d series.

Ya I talked to 2 sales reps and neither one mentioned trading in the old camera. They just ask if it's broken or at EOL. Hopefully I don't get a surprise once it's delivered to me!
