Blu-rays are much harder to scratch than DVDs, should be OK. They have a clear scratch resistant coating that DVDs don't have, it's part of the Blu-ray standard.

The Mummy is a great movie set with cheap paper sleeve packaging. I have this set and it's great but I keep thinking I'll scratch the discs putting them back in the sleeves.

Properly made Blu-rays and UHDs shouldn't scratch from incidental contact like DVDs. You would have to take a nail or razor-sharp edge to create a real scratch on the newer formats.

I've already done that but part of the allure of 4K for me is the uncompressed video.

I usually transcode once I had the full rip but with how cheap storage is now and how long x265 takes to transcode all of my UHD is uncompressed

So you really gonna make me go try this. I'll not only try it on one disc, I'll do the entire set. After I ruin the first disc.
