I get this deal every year it comes around and can say with 100% certainty that you do not get charged an annual fee, you do not get charged an initiation fee, and most importantly, you do not have to give them any bank account information. Simply pay $99 plus tax with cash, credit card, whatever, and you're set for the year, no risk of them charging random fees.

I post this thread with the expectation that we will get the multiple "planet fitness sucks" posts that contribute nothing to the conversation. While there is some valid complaint about their policies and certain facilities, it is my experience that the clubs vary quite a bit with equipment and how they operate. For instance the "lunk alarm" never sounds at my place, and free weight dumbbells go up to 75 pounds which is plenty for most people. Planet Fitness is generally a clean gym that the every day person can go work out. I will agree it is NOT for serious weight lifters. It's just simply not what PF is trying to accomplish in pleasing their clientele.

Your example link doesn't pull up for me.

It's seems like my local one isn't showing up for this promo (Rocklin, CA) assuming I'm looking in the right spot.

Was waiting for this hoping it'd be available locally. I just cancelled my ridiculously overpriced CalFit membership. Wish I had the room for a home gym!

Good point. Mine all expire on the 5th so I'll check back after that. May be worth giving them a call in a few days too.

Never joined a gym before and will be relocating in August. Can I give my membership to someone else when I move? Nvm found this which sucks.

If anyone works for a large corporation, check and see if your employer supports Active&Fit. It was a one-time $25 activation fee, and it's $25/mo (with no contract) and it includes membership to all LA Fitness, Golds Gym, Crunch, Planet Fitness, EOS, Anytime Fitness, and many other smaller local gyms as well. Includes pretty much every gym except 24 Hour Fitness (which used to be included but no longer included as of January 2019).

Ours has the $99 promotion but another ~$50 annual fee due on anniversary, I guess still cheap. Also this rate is for use of only one location

It is very YMMV, different locations have different Promos. At my area all gyms have the same offer but for double the price lol at $199 for 1 year!
