Chase Checking & Savings $900 Bonus Offer

I'm not sure if this was targeted or not. It was an offer under my Marriott Chase credit card account. You get $900 cash back when you open a checking and savings account through the link. Sure the interest rates are crap...but once you get your $900 after 3 months, you can close accounts and move elsewhere. Seems like a killer deal...unless I'm missing something? https://accounts.chase.com/consum...px=PT22272

"To receive the $300 checking bonus: 1) Open a new Chase Total Checking account, which is subject to approval; AND 2) Have your direct deposit made to this account within 90 days of account opening. Your direct deposit needs to be an electronic deposit of your paycheck, pension or government benefits (such as Social Security) from your employer or the government. Person to Person payments (such as Chase Quickpay® with Zelle®) are not considered a direct deposit. After you have completed all the above checking requirements, we'll deposit the bonus in your new account within 10 business days. To receive the $200 savings bonus: 1) Open a new Chase SavingsSM account, which is subject to approval; 2) Deposit a total of $15,000 or more in new money into the new savings account within 20 business days of account opening; AND 3) Maintain at least a $15,000 balance for 90 days from the date of deposit. The new money cannot be funds held by you at Chase or its affiliates. After you have completed all the above savings requirements, we'll deposit the bonus in your new account within 10 business days. To receive the extra $400 bonus: You must open the checking and savings account at the same time and complete all requirements above for BOTH the checking bonus and savings bonus. After you have completed all requirements, we will deposit the remaining bonus due in your new checking account within 10 business days."

Setup a direct deposit of $500 a month or have a balance of over $1500 to avoid fees on checking. And maintain balance of over $300 on savings to avoid fees.

I did this offer 6 months ago. It was a PITA to fund the Chase savings account. I set up an ACH transfer from my online bank into the new Chase Saving Account. A few hours later Chase had cancelled it and locked my online access to the account. I called customer service and they wouldn't talk to me at all about why the account was locked. They told me to go into a local branch office for help.

The Teller at the local branch couldn't help with this problem so I had to sit on the couch and wait for an account manager. The account manager had to call someone to find out why my account was locked. I was told that the amount of the transfer was too high and that I needed to bring a certified check into the branch to fund the account. I explained to them that this was THEIR requirement to fund the account and pointed out the insanity that they couldn't accept the transfer.

So I transferred the money, with no problem, from my online bank to my primary physical bank. I went to that physical branch to get a cashiers check written to MY name. By making it out to my name I did not incur a fee for the certified check. Then I took the certified check to the physical Chase branch and was able to deposit it.

They certainly made me work for that bonus. They couldn't tell me what their ACH limit was.. and only said that I couldn't fund the account through ACH... I've since looked it up online and found that Chase has a $10,000 limit per transaction and $25,000 per day.. which is actually really good compared to other banks. I guess that movie stuff where the criminal transfers millions of dollars into an offshore account from a computer is BS... LOL.

Thanks and repped.. Good to know. I closed my chase account about 13 months ago, I remember the rule used to be 6 months, then one year and now two years. BTW, do you know where to find the terms and condition regarding this for this particular promo? I clicked the links on the first page , but had a broken link. Thanks again.

Your direct deposit needs to be an electronic deposit of your paycheck, pension or government benefits (such as Social Security) from your employer or the government. After you have completed all the above checking requirements, we'll deposit the bonus in your new account within 10 business days. To receive the $200 savings bonus: 1) Open a new Chase SavingsSM account, which is subject to approval. 2) Deposit a total of $15,000 or more in new money into the new savings account within 20 business days of account opening; AND 3) Maintain at least a $15,000 balance for 90 days from the date of deposit. Thanks so much. Looks like they only mentioned 90 days rule for this promo. I remotely remember that I saw the two years rule when this promo was first posted, so I thought I was not qualified. Now my hope is up , I am thinking to get into the deal. Just got $400 bonus from Wellsfargo from the checking account I opened three months ago. ApplauseApplause

The only two year thing they mentioned in the terms: You can receive only one new checking and one new savings account opening related bonus every two years from the last enrollment date and only one bonus per account

So it's enrollment date and not closing date.

Thanks. Guess I will take my chance here, the worst will be losing 3 months interests gains. If I they don't really enforce the 2 year rule like someone mentioned, I will pocket $900. Happy New Yeas !!!
