Ruined a pretty good deal for a SVA or TN panel.

Seems to be a trend lately on these mid range builds. Look at the CPU/RAM/SSD/Display, you get 2 components better than average, 1 on par, and 1 sub par enough to ruin the deal.

Kicking myself for missing the $399 deal at Costco....

How bad is FHD display? I haven't really been keeping up in the screen trends

You're right but then you should add those extra costs to the "deal" price and re-evaluate.

In other words I would want an IPS display with this build @ $599. Maybe I could buy the display separately for $100, but now my cost is $699, I have an extra display sitting around, and the deal isn't as good.

For my preference I'd like an i5+ and an IPS display in a build around $500, one of which seems to be missing from most of the recent mid range deals. Just my $.02

I do realize I'm saying "mid-range" then wanting more and more, that's why I'm holding out for the right deal.

FHD just stands for full HD, aka 1080p display which is fine considering the pixels per inch in a 15.6" screen. The WVA panel isn't the greatest type around but better than a TN which is generally the cheapest type available.

Can't seem to find out if it has another slot if I want to stick in an HDD for larger storage. Does anyone know about this?

I bought the similar Office Depot BF special for $549, HP 15" 16G IPS i7 10th gen, 16G 256G SSD, iris plus graphics. No backlight and the keyboard is kind of funky. Looks like they sold it again yesterday at the BF price and then went out of stock again.

That's $299, which is a deal. If that was $399 then it's a bad deal.

Fhd = full high def = 1080p = good

Hd = high def = usually means 720p in laptop screens = bad

Sva = standard viewing angle = TN panel = bad

Wva = wide viewing angle = IPS or "ips level" (similar tech as ips, samsung and asus and others do this sometimes) or sometimes VA (some gaming monitors though not as wide viewing angle as ips but better contrast) = good

I understand that all of these companies are trying to get thinner and lighter for better portability, but I'd really like to see at least some of these deals with a bigger/better battery. That is more important any portability to me.
