Amazon UK has Sony Alpha A6500 Compact System Camera (body only) for $667.12 shipped (after converting GBP to USD).

Seems like great deal. Around $900 or so on Amazon US.

Head up: imported means no warranty. Good price tho.
Personally, after using alot of a6xxx series. A6400 is a better one imho. It technically has the A9 processor and much better menu.

6400 has no 5-axis stabilization.

I have an a5000 that I use for web product photography (with a manual 1970s Konica 1.4 lens). I'd love an upgraded sensor for a good price, but all of the added features on the follow-on models are just passing me by.

Think that is a great price but I would rather have the 6400 too for the eye auto focus and subject tracking. Maybe if I was shooting video more I would care about the stabilization. I don't think the 6500's stabilization is that highly rated.

Anyway a great camera for a very good price.

Imo, IBIS is overrated. I have an a7iii with Ibis and still get shakes when using it for video handheld. It's better with Ibis no doubt but you are still going to need a tripod or gimbal if you really wanted smooth video with the a7iii, and I think it's going to be the same for the a6500.

Is there customs duties to be paid when purchasing goods for that high amount from the UK?

Was it from Amazon or a different vender? I'm not seeing it available anymore.

This is the biggest factor that hinges on it being slick or not

Typically, IBIS is for handheld low light image shots. For video a gimball is required. Some companies like Panasonic does a better job than Sony though.

From the YouTube videos I've seen, Fuji with their X-H1 and Panasonic blow Sony's IBIS away. I saw another comparison between Sony's IBIS vs OIS vs IBIS + OIS all on the a6500 but maybe their was an a6300 in the mix as well. To my eyes, OIS with no IBIS looked identical to IBIS only or IBIS with OIS. When I say OIS I'm referring to just the lens.

Right, I have seen Panasonic comparison. I have also used Go Pro 8, and it has superb video stabaliztion. There is no denying.

I think typically in DSLR, which A6500 competes with, the focus was on image, so IBIS was there to compensate for shake while taking a handheld image. Newer crop of cameras, did great in video but Sony never did upgrade. It still a great image camera IMO, not so much for videos.

BTW I think B&H deal is better, for $100 more, you get warranty and some extra accessories.
