Notary and closing
Here is what you can expect or ask for from my experience:
1. New pen for signing wiped thoroughly
2. Pen stays with you after signing
3. Only material they will touch would be your ID
4. ID would be wiped and returned back
5. Can expect gloves to be worn
6. Signing can happen in your front yard or in your garage
7. If you have a Costco table then you can sit on either sides to maintain distancing
8. Masks might be recommended given new guidelines
9. Plus discuss with the notary!!

And full on BS on adding in the $2500 in their rate match! It's not on the disclosure, it doesn't count. They refuse to honor a match they should pay the 1k.

I tried to have them match another estimate and they ghosted me. Sent them the estimate last Thursday and there's been no response.
Before this, I was getting emails/text msgs/phone calls from them everyday.

From my experience with them the past week, i gotta say I'm starting to agree with the bad reviews.

So i am not targetted for the amex better offer, i just recently closed my AMEX acc.
Currently in the process of refinance with better, should I apply for an AMEX card? Will that affect my refinance/ delay? Would they honor the new amex card for me to get the statement credit?
10/21 - Requested refi out of 30yr fixed @4.85% to 15yr fixed. Got blasted with 8 emails on first day (welcome, verify, preapproved, lock your rate, i'm your concierge, do you have time to talk etc.)
10/25 - Sent them rate quote from Aimloan @3% 15yr fixed. They asked for a proper loan estimate, not just quote. Sent this over. They pulled the nonsense of including $2,500 credit in their loan estimate and charging sky high origination fees to make it look slightly better than Aimloan's offer. I said that does not count, if you can't match it's fine, I'm waking away. At 8pm I got an automated e-mail that the loan was "updated." They set origination fees to zero!
11/9 - I shopped around for some more quotes and finally just locked with Better. Started uploading docs and working on "tasks". At some point they collected my Amex card info (last 5 digits, card type, etc.). Closing was set for 1/3.
12/28 - Got the $2,500 statement credit on the date the statement closed, even before the loan closed.
1/3 - Signed closing docs. Closing attorney made a mistake, so we had to do it again.
1/8 - Loan finally closed. Ended up with ~$600 credit even after all refi fees.
Overall Better was pretty good and communicative. I would definitely refi with them again if I could get this kind of credit offer. The website is well designed and the guys I worked with were communicative. The closing took so long mostly because we had some extenuating circumstances which took Better underwriting some additional time to process (not their fault). Looks like I lucked out based on some of the experiences of other folks here, but my experience was overall positive.
