EDIT information from Better.com!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hello,
I work with Better, com and wanted to see if you could please add in the following information to your post on Amex/Better,com deal as it reads incorrect as it stands, especially regarding eligibility. We want to make sure the offer is stated as accurately as possible:
1) Mortgage rates of any specific customer, stated or otherwise, should not be taken as indicative of a mortgage rate available to all customers. Pricing is based on a number of factors, including the individual credit profile of a potential borrower.
2) The offer is only available to those borrowers who have been marketed to directly by American Express, and those who have not received the offer on their Amex portal or via email are not eligible.

In California:
424K Loan on a 780K value home

Better.com (I made the mistake of locking in the rate on Monday)
3.25 - 20 year
0 points

I decided to go with Rocket Mortgage
3.125 - 20 year
0 Points
Was quoted a Processing Fee and Loan Origination Fee of $1250 but got a lender credit for that after i told i wasn't interested.

Negotiate everyone

Both came with AMEX $2500

I'm also in the process of working with Better. I haven't locked rate yet. When you locked the rate with Better but went with Rocket later, is there a penalty for that? Also when you locked rate, did Better require you to pay appraisal fee first? Did they refund the fee?

Loan was processed on 11th February and received $2500 AMEX credit today (03/05).

312K refi on 480K value without appraisal @ 3% for 15 years.

After $1670 credit I had to pay around $560 from my pocket out of which $310 was the interest for 15 days (section F).

Not targeted by AMEX, just clicked on link posted by OP.

I'm ready for round 2 with rocket or quicken 😎

Better didnt require me to pay a fee and there is no penalty but Rocket mortgage required a Good Faith Deposit of 500 dollars which if I backed out would be non-refundable but it goes toward my closing cost if I continue.

You can ask for a appraisal waiver if your loan to value is low.

I actually locked in a rate with AXOS bank also

That's a great deal! Is your new loan amount more than the balance of your old loan? For me it's 14k more. What's the total credits you received including amex credit? Did you have to pay appraisal deposit first and get it back at closing?

The new loan amount estimate is so far more but thats just because they go higher then lower but eventually it will be even amount when you get your loan disclosure before you close, unless you ask for more to do some remodeling. That is when you look though everything to make sure its correct

I havent received any credit yet but apparently its $2500, no other lender credit. Better gave me a lender credit of 587 dollars but with the higher interest rate it wasn't worth it. I did not have to pay appraisal deposit as i got that waived

My Loan balance was = payoff amount of old loan.

$1670 + $2500 total credit.

$1670 credit helped me cover title fees.

No appraisal at all so, no appraisal deposit.

The $1670 credit, did you have to ask for it? They gave me $61 lender credit! Lol.

Try Rocket by Quicken Loan. They offer Amex credit too.

so what is the general feelings from everyone on this program ? I can get 2.75 10 or 15 year fixed with no fees, no appraisal and 400.00 credit. --this is with a lender I have done business with before.
Its a no hassle process. Is this better.com deal any good ? do they jerk you around ? will they truly beat any other rate/deal ?
