I work with Better,com and wanted to see if you could please add in the following information to your post on Amex/Better,com deal as it reads incorrect as it stands, especially regarding eligibility. We want to make sure the offer is stated as accurately as possible:
1) Mortgage rates of any specific customer, stated or otherwise, should not be taken as indicative of a mortgage rate available to all customers. Pricing is based on a number of factors, including the individual credit profile of a potential borrower.

yeah just take a look on their site? You dont have to give up that much besides loan amount, value, etc.

EDIT: I just looked and all you have to do is your name and last four of your ssn. They do a soft check and then you can take a peek? If you are just looking for baseline rates look at your local CU offerings if you dont want a soft check.

Their rates seem high. Ran through the process. Imagine they haven't dropped all the way yet?

Currently 2.3% but that's up for a 5 year update this fall

I closed my refi with Quicken on Tuesday and they are sending the check to my current lender on Monday (After 3 business days of closing).
Quicken loan was ZERO cost Refi (Lender credits covered the costs and went to quicken through my local broker)

I have an application and rate locked open with Better.

If Better agrees (because of change of the lender/mortage holder mentioned in my loan application to in reality) , I would like to close my loan in next week or 2 with them to get this credit.
  1. Is there anywhere in the law that prohibits me from Refi for some period of time? (The closing attorney said I can refi whenever I want but the banks cannot approach me/advertise me to refi for 6 months)
  2. If I close with Better, will quicken come back and make me pay the costs incurred on the loan by them?

I feel good about my 3.5% 30 year fixed getting paid $500 after costs + $2500 Amex credit! Glad I didn't listen to everyone saying to wait! Better to get a great rate and not deal with the crazy ness going on right now!

There were a few people saying that. I think the demand will keep propping them up to around 3% no matter where the rates go. So the lender's will be artificially making even more money lending. A win-win for them.

The real question is if we go into a holding pattern. I'm at 4.375 on my loan right now. I want 3% but at nowhere near the cost of what it is right now.

This deal should be basically considered dead at this point. Rates have jumped almost 1.5 percent in a week.
