EDIT information from Better.com!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hello,
I work with Better, com and wanted to see if you could please add in the following information to your post on Amex/Better,com deal as it reads incorrect as it stands, especially regarding eligibility. We want to make sure the offer is stated as accurately as possible:
1) Mortgage rates of any specific customer, stated or otherwise, should not be taken as indicative of a mortgage rate available to all customers. Pricing is based on a number of factors, including the individual credit profile of a potential borrower.
2) The offer is only available to those borrowers who have been marketed to directly by American Express, and those who have not received the offer on their Amex portal or via email are not eligible.

They matched me twice. First to match the 3% from Company A. I locked rate with Better at 3%. Company A came back with better offer of 2.875%. Better matched it. Now Company A went down to 2.75%. Third time a charm?
Of course Wink

Lucky you lol.

Though I hated the deadline they gave me. 6hrs pretty much.
Plus I didn't want to lock anything as I was reading, better is less likely to match after.

I am new to refi. So my current loan is $187k with 30 year with 5% from 2009. Current balance $142k.

I got Quicken Loan with $146k with 3.99% with 0 points for 15y Fixed with $2251 as closing cost which will included into the loan. But I will also qualify for $2500 AMEX Credit. I think 3.99% is a bad rate.

I got another Lender for 2.875% with 0 points for 15y Fixed with closing cost around $3000.

Quicken loan refused to match the rate.

Try to get better mortgage but they cant process in PA due to COVID-19.

Which lender should I pick?

Paying off your house is not a good financial move unless you are fairly old.
That's not true if you have the money to pay it off.

Huh? My house appreciates at 1-3%, my stocks appreciate at several times that. I will keep my money in stocks

Well, obviously, you can only pay off if you have the money . Even then, he is saying you should invest and not pay off. Its not easy for everyone. Doesnt apply to all

FWIW...if you are medical staff or work on the front lines ask for a discount before locking rate/closing.

I asked if they offer an additional lender credits and they credited an extra $500 off.

Signing closing papers tomorrow. Yesterday I had a task to put in my AMEX info, which was just the last five numbers of the card and my full name.
