I work with Better,com and wanted to see if you could please add in the following information to your post on Amex/Better,com deal as it reads incorrect as it stands, especially regarding eligibility. We want to make sure the offer is stated as accurately as possible:

I shopped around for a title company and got a discount of $200. I just used Google search to find title companies in my area. Some had online calculators that I used. Others, I just emailed directly. I read though that some people had success in getting Better to match title company costs too. I didn't try that as I liked the person that I was talking with over email. I wanted to give her the business rather than some stranger company.

Thankyou!! How much time did you spend to look for the companies? I am still justifying if its worthed to look around.

A couple hours over the course of 2 days. Then an extra hour comparing email offers and having them beat each other.

My loan just got funded almost a month to the day that I started the process with Better. Overall I am pretty happy with the process. Everything was done online except for the final signing. My experience was similar to some of the others here in that Better would only beat a competitor's LE by $1000 before the rate lock. I'm in CA so I brought a jumbo 3.375% +$1400 in credits LE from Owning to Better. Better matched the rate and gave me about $2400 in lender credit. About a week after locking my rate with Better, Owning lowered their rates to 3.125% + $1400 in credits. Better would only match that LE but would not beat it by $1000 any more. I already had my appraisals done by Better and was already pretty far in the process that I didn't want to slow things down. Lost out on an extra $1000 but I was already getting a free refi plus $2500 amex credit so all was good. I'll mention that based on the comments here about some of the rates from LenderFi, I also reached out to them to try to get a LE. It took days for them to even get back to me. Even then, it seemed like they were actively trying not to give me a LE because they knew I was going to take it elsewhere. Will update on how long it takes to get my AMEX credit. Good luck all.

I have Amex Card and would like to refinance. Do I have add this from my Credit Card A/c "Amex Offers & Benefits" list? . I do not see that in my list. ?

Still in the approval stage. They're requiring 12 months of HOI to be paid up front, which I guess is fine, but if that's the case I'll probably opt to take HOI out of my escrow payments each month.

Keep an eye on that loan estimate! And save each iteration to compare because you can't go back and look at old ones. I wish they showed you which items changed.

When in the closing process did you get the task to enter your Amex card number? After closing disclosures were sent?

Don't have the exact order since a lot of the tasks got assigned at the same time. I want to say that I remember them asking for an eligible amex card before the final closing disclosure was sent. The final disclosures were basically the last thing to review before having the notary scheduled.

credit union 1 in Chicago quoted me the 2,5% for 15 yrs with 2500 closing cost. Better will beat their closing cost by $1000 +free appraisal+amex.
