Bought it and returned it. Slower than you would think for the specs. Issues I had is what others have, black screen over and over and over. Restarting, 3 to 5 times to be able to use it.

Imho, get a trusted brand this is garbage
Sorry man. You clearly got a lemon. Mine has survived 4 weeks of use so far. I'm typing on it now.

No blue screens or black screens or random restarts?

To those recommending a reformat, it is not worth it. I have reformatted >100 Windows PCs, but this was the first time I didn't feel the need to reformat. This machine came with essentially no bloatware. It was a clean install + some THX utility. You can just run Windows debloater (which you would do if it was a fresh install too) and you are done.

It is clear the ppl who are hating on the build quality of this have never actually held the machine. It's a great deal, has a quality feel, and if you check the multiple other Motile threads on SD, you will see most ppl are quite happy with it (although may be salty due to price drops).
You're making me want this more and more haha. Do you think it would be a worthy upgrade from a mid-2014 13 MBP? Obviously the MBP wins in build quality, but this would win in CPU performance, RAM, and bigger screen. I'm just in the market for something new and this would let me sell off the MBP for a nice profit.

To be fair, the domain was only registered on 12/03 and the site popped up in the last couple days. May not have existed at the time of the issues.

This is higher spec and smaller 14" lighter compared to Lenovo 15.6"

I don't think there's any risk to trying it with Walmart's return policy.

Yup. But I've heard that as long as the serial numbers match, they'll take it back. Test drive is doable within 2 weeks.

Actually, extended holiday return policies apply, so 14-day returns have until 01/10 and 30-day returns until 01/25. I think I got those dates right; they're posted on the the WM return policies page.

Thank you for the wonderful review. Do you have the link for the WiFi card and the RAM chip that you ordered? Also, the SSD upgrade link if you have one?
This is the WiFi card I purchased: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B079QH5KW1

The RAM i purchased has gone up in price, but this is the RAM I'd recommend now: https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-Single-PC4-21300-SODIMM-260-Pin/dp/B071KP8CGJ

However any ddr4 sodimm at 2400mhz or higher would work -- there's a few options from Patriot and Team that are about $10 less expensive

I happen to have a mid-2014 13.3" MBP to compare with. The MBP is built like a tank, there's no flex whatsoever in the case, and the hinge moves confidently. In comparison, the Motile is built with thinner metal; I don't notice it flex during normal use (only minimally if I apply excessive pressure) and I'm happy with it. I also have an ASUS ZenBook UX360CA; although the ASUS is built "prettier," the case and keyboard flex easily and uncomfortably during normal use. The Motile's keyboard and touchpad are solidly built.

Even though the Motile is 14" and the MBP is 13.3", they take up about the same footprint, probably because the Motile has thinner bezels. The Motile has a 16:9 display (more common these days, better for movies) and the MBP has a 16:10 display (more vertical space, better for reading). The Motile obviously doesn't have the MBP's HiDPI display, and it's not as bright, but it's good enough for my needs (I rarely use the MBP at max brightness). The Motile is significantly lighter-weight, which is great for mobility.

Correct. No blue screens or black screens or random restarts. That said, I haven't tried to reinstall it yet. I heard missing drivers could be a culprit -- though this was before official drivers were available. Just in case I needed a reinstall, I recorded a disk image and also separately extracted the drivers. The stock image has been working great.
