So the Motility doesn't support DP on USB C port? I need to make sure I can have 2 HDMI monitors connected to the device. Thanks

there are a few plus for the hp like DP for the usb c as well as bigger battery capacity, the weight of hp is slightly more but its slightly smaller size. hp also has touchscreen

Both only have 1 ram slot. both have 4k 60hz output.

i guess the only real plus to the hp is the slightly larger battery capacity. and the touchscreen. but not sure if it's worth $200 more

Has anyone read reviews of people who have had this laptop for an extended period of months to a year? I feel like this is the kind of cheap thing that get good benchmark reviews but craps out after a year. What about buying an extended warranty through squaretrade or something?
A year?! Lol it was announced in October and available shortly thereafter.

Why don't you try it out for yourself? Buy the extended warranty and let us know?

Anything can crap out after a year or arrive as a lemon. It's called life, so live it up.

Seriously?... 10-15 years sysadmin/engineer and you don't know how to backup?... Perhaps you should just keep that on the down low.
Not to mention that I couldn't understand what he was trying to say at all... Maybe he should keep a low profile before his boss knows that he got a lemon.

Yes the r3 has a backlit keyboard and it reportedly does 4k @ 60hz over HDMI though I'm unable to test myself.

Both R3 and R5 HDMI output 4k60hz.

The chassis is magnesium and aluminum.

BIOS and drivers are now available.

Prices keep dropping.

Fresh install unnecessary as no bloatware barebones OS.

Return Policy so good try it and if you don't like it return it.

You seem pretty knowledgeable, do you think this would be good as a main laptop specs-wise? It seems like a lot of people are buying them just as secondary/portable ones. I have a behemoth Lenovo Y510P that I was planning on selling to go smaller

In my opinion yes. The Picasso R5 handles just about anything you can throw at it. With that said this is not a gaming laptop but some less demanding games like Minecraft will work great too.

This seems like a great deal on a laptop...I just wish the comments were written in average computer user language. Reading through this thread makes me feel like I'm trying to read Chinese. Props to all of you who are super wizards with computers, but at this point I really have no clue if this laptop is good as is for the majority or if I need to take a crash course on soldering RAM, Dim, SATA, benchmarks, Ryzen, Raiden, Sub-Zero, Sonya Blade, DP on the C, and on and on.

Riddle me this:
Is this fine out of the box to run Office software, browse the web, and watch copious amounts of pron (the only DP I understand)...and can I Miracast it to the big screen TV so I can truly feel as inadequate as possible while watching🤣

Really the only issue is people trying to treat this as though it's a gaming laptop I think, which is what seems people do with every laptop nowadays, people trying to get as cheap of a gaming laptop as possible. For the large majority of the population who aren't doing graphics intensive stuff like gaming or engineering crap on paper this is great, the only question is how it will hold up.

Also about pron, it's only a 14" screen so bigger guys may not fit all on screen and it will cut off the head

I really don't need to see the guys heads 😂😂 Don't care about gaming, that's what Xbox is for. Does it do screen mirroring?

I dunno why everyone tries to compare every laptop as a gaming laptop. People who want gaming laptops should know where to go for them
