Did anyone get the extra warranty? I don't usually buy this but given that I don't know the brand, I was wondering if it made sense to. I pulled the trigger last night without warranty.

I think you're okay. Most of the issues I've seen with these tend to surface quickly (black screen on boot) and within the return period.

Put it on an AMEX card that still offers extended warranty.

just noticing how hot the bottom of laptop is. i'm running 3 poker tables on AmericasCardroom, 3 tabs on Edge, 3 tabs on Chrome. would a 16 GB RAM upgrade improve/fix this? any advice on how to fix this w/out RAM upgrade?

Aaargh, this deal is really giving me heartburn - it's above my "impulse-buy" price, and there are a both a lot of pros and a few cons:

Cons:
- single-channel single-slot memory
- dim screen
- cheap wi-fi

Pros:
- upgradable memory is a big positive
- upgradable storage and *2* SSD slots
- 1080p and IPS
- Vega 8 and 4-core-8-thread are nice-to-have
- replaceable battery
- wifi looks easy to upgrade - replace with Intel 7260 which has same form factor & same antenna connector location, for $20 on NewEgg.

Are you running in Silent vs Basic mode? It is FN+F5 (looks like a speedometer). It should help with the cooling. Ram won't fix poor cooling or heating

You're not going to get better specs until you hit ~$500. The only way you're going to find a better deal is if this drops in price further. At $299 you make some compromises. Up to you whether they're worth making for your needs/budget.

I verified that Chase Pay works for 5%, so probably Paypal would too. The fine print is for Walmart not being classified as a "Department Store", so using the card in store won't give the 5%.
For 5% until end of this year

If you order through walmart.com online then you can
  1. Use Discover
  2. Chase Pay - you have select Other to see Chase Pay

In store, you can install Walmart App and Chase Pay on your phone. Then in Walmart App, under Walmart Pay, you get the option to select Chase Pay as the payment method. Note that you need to install Chase Pay in your phone and login there first before it shows up under Walmart Pay.

After this you need to use Walmart Pay through your phone for your payment when checking out in store. You won't get a paper receipt. The order will be saved under your account in Walmart App.

So... I was about to get this deal but scrolled the comments and clicked the link for $313 for the bundle, so I got a mouse and a $70 laptop bag.. Ordered on walmart.com total came to $336 or something.. the following day I get an email from walmart we are sorry due to a billing error we owe you $170.. I said what you owe me? and sure enough walmart credited me back $170 of the $336 of the total amount and the item is being delivered today.....not sure if this was a glitch or what but give it a try guys

For those unaware, you can use Ryzen Controller to adjust TDP limits and monitor them with AMD uProf.

I installed Ryzen Master software but it says CPU not supported. I think the Ryzen master also messed up my thing and prevent it from rebooting properly. The problem went away after uninstalling ryzen master software.

Which ryzen controller software from amd site are you talking about? i did a complete windows reinstall on mine

I ordered R3 for $249 then R5 was $349 and now considering return to change for R5. I'll plan to use it for basic tasks but have doubts about battery life. How much is the difference in battery life in ms office and internet browsing?
