this is becoming an insanely good deal. it was a good deal at 399, better at 349. and now 299? it's one of those slickdeals i'm tempted to buy even though i dont need it!
I am sure if you wait even more till 2021 or better 2022 BF, there will be even better electronics. 😛
Review for the laptop [notebookcheck.net]

Seems to be 2 M.2 slots and 1 DDR4.

So if you spend about $20 on wifi card and another 60 or so on a 16gb ram stick youre looking at a $400 laptop. The main thing i wish it had was dual channel ram.
Is wifi 6 much better than the 9260?
Even with the upgrades, you won't be able to find a laptop this light with this level of performance for $400. If you don't care about the weight, the value proposition for this laptop isn't quite as good.

If you have a Wifi 6 router (802.11ax), the AX200 will be faster than the 9260, and it is a bit more future proof... Otherwise on most older routers that only support 802.11ac, they'll perform just about the same. See https://www.snbforums.com/threads/intel-ax200-netgear-rax80-rax120-test-results.56389/ for benchmarks. I didn't think ax200 was worth an additional $5 over the 9360 personally, as my router doesn't even support the max speed of the 9260 card...but you might argue that if you're going to replace the card anyway, why not just go for the latest one.

Yes faster and also has Bluetooth 5.0. For 5 bucks more WiFi 6 card is 100% more future proof and worth it.

FIX FOR LOW SOUND OUTPUT FROM SPEAKERS:

Be sure the Sound Blaster Connect application is running.
Select a sound profile (Game/Music/Movie, etc)
and make sure the Pre-Amp is turned on. Makes a night and day difference

Hey guys, A question from a Dummie. How important is it to update Bios to the newest one? Are there bug fixes in the newest updates? Will this auto update to the newest one? Is there a youtube or step by step way to do this? Will it work just fine the way we get it? Thanks

I don't think a change log was given with the new BIOS, but it's safe to assume it included some bug fixes (possibly for the black screen issue, but there's no data yet one way or another). It will not auto update, but some steps were posted into the wiki here. It's not for the faint of heart, so unless you are experiencing issues I wouldn't worry about it.

Guys, I put it here as a PSA.
Don't attempt to update the BIOS, mine stuck at 26% for hours and just stuck there. I had to kill the process to try to reflash and it didn't work, the laptop started locking up and when restarting as you can guess, it can no longer come up.
I know Pinako was able to update his/her laptop but I am just saying is that it's extremely risky and prob not worth it.
I will try to return to Walmart now and reorder another one.

If you attempt to update, make sure you boot into efi mode, don't EVEN bother with the Windows flasher tool, that's how I bricked my laptop.

Thats great. I really do like the pictures of black/gray laptop keyboard. I might need to swap my silver for one when it gets here. Are these available in stores?

I'd only bother updating the BIOS if you're having issues with your laptop or if technical support tells you to do it.

I can't imagine a 2002 laptop being even remotely usable. Maybe some basic word processing with no online access??

Did a fresh install of Windows 10 Pro and everything works fine after running Windows update including the function keys. Didn't have to run any 3rd party software.

The speed mode also works fine but it doesn't display basic or silent mode when you click the key, however you can in fact tell which is mode is activated by looking at the light on the power button.
