how did you benchmark 8gb vs 16gb, or anyone else for that matter?

I only benchmarked 16g, didn't do the 8g one

$329 still a good deal considering a lot of people bought in at $349.
I am happy with this laptop, the silver looks almost like an apple product.
But if there is one thing that I am most pleasantly surprised with is how light this is. This is as light to lift as my iPad and that is one thing I am most impressed with.

For anyone wondering, I'm on the latest Linux Mint Cinnamon 64 bit 19.2 with the 5.3 Kernel working perfectly, make sure you update the kernel manually as Linux Mint comes with 4.5 kernel I believe stock. When I initially installed it without updating the kernel, my display would be stuck at 800x600, after updating and rebooting, my screen came scaled correctly to 1080p

I also upgraded the RAM and the Wifi Module, basically plug and play, these are the two that I bought

curious about this fix.. please update. good wifi is essential
Installed the Intel Wireless-Ac 9260 2x2 Wifi card and so far it is AMAZING! No more dropped signals and speeds are at full speed all the time. Here's the one I bought: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product...UTF8&psc=1

A few more notes on this laptop after a few days of operation. It was suffering from multiple lock ups and black screens which got progressively worse. I had to hard cycle it multiple times a day. As a last ditch effort before returning this thing I decided to upgrade the BIOS from 1.03 to 1.05 and so far everything has been stable! It's only been on the new BIOS for about 5 hrs. so let's see how it goes after a few days. I didn't upgrade the EC flash, just the bios.

I gave my wife the option of returning this to get the larger lenovo ideapad but she didn't want it because this thing is lightweight and portable.

By "Pre-Amp" I meant EQ. There is a slider for the EQ under each sound profile.
Make sure the slide is turned on, it defaults to off.
I didn't do any upgrades, so just have the factory system.

I opened the sound blaster app and had a youtube video playing in the background.

But, when I selected "movie mode" and then turned the EQ on, there was no noticeable difference in the sound volume. Is there something I'm missing?

Thanks!

i recommend you go with 8g, 256gb. if you go 4gb one, the vega 3 will lock in 1-1.5 gbram, you will only 2.5-3gb ram left for windows, that being said, you will experience some freezing. for a piece of mind, just go with the better configuration.
The Vega 3 version actually only reserved something like 600 mb with 4gb of RAM

Keep us updated if that bios was the culprit after all.

So far having very good experience with this laptop. One question for the experts. When I open Sound Blaster Connect App, it says Your audio device cannot be detected. Please check your connection. I have just updated Windows to 1909 but otherwise have not wiped or reinstalled any software.

the fact is that it gonna be stretchy for both GPU and CPU departments for windows 10 to work properly. linux should be fine. but not windows. IMHO, windows 10 needs at least 8gb ram.

Right click the audio icon in the taskbar lower right-hand corner. Run the audio troubleshooter and have it reinstall the THX Spatial Audio driver. Restart the computer then check again.
