I still want to see any benchmarks on 16gb vs 8gb, otherwise why do you need it, you wont be gaming any games that take up 6gb of ram on this with this video card. I think Apex Legends was hitting 4gb.

edit - when i alt tab, game doesnt work if i try to get back into it. So i think more ram will help with that.

THX audio thing is pretty horrible - i did a test watching a movie scene on youtube - with thx what it does is make a spacial effect, but the bass almost disappears. Volume reduced by half easy. Turn it off and bass comes back, you can still get the stereo effect maybe 50% less directional than THX. But to not have bass is pretty strange tuning.

I didnt try Soundblaster, those of you who's laptops are already loud with default mode, did you install SB EQ stuff, did it make a difference?

That's the speed of the built in vega graphics on the apu. I got mixed up too at first thinking my ram was 1200 but the system maxes out at 2400MHz on the ram, the ram that comes with the system is actually a Goldkey 2666 MHz.

Yikes,i should not have started the windows memory test.. I want to put 16gb if it will help FPS in games.. but i have a feeling it wont. For 2gb card performance should be better.. 2gb dedicated is way faster.

This is still a very capable machine for what it is, and 6 out of 8 usable gigs of ram is okay for most but for those of us with lots of background tabs and other applications we are swapping out for 16GB ram and in rare cases 32GB from others. I dont know how well that translates to games since that is not my primary target for this laptop. There is someone on this thread that is doing testing on his own and providing information on what to expect in terms of fps from this 3500U apu.

The 8GB module serves its purposeAttachment 8750279

I actually have a need for at least 16gb and possibly 32gb. The kind of work i do requires loading large dataset of multiple small image files streamed from a server. for review. On my other laptop with 16gb ram, i run ramdisk with 8gb ram as a virtual disk to cache the images instead of caching it to ssd. access time is speed up as well as reduced wear on the ssd.

I also run all my laptop with no virtual memory so everything run strictly in ram.

If you ever run windows in pure ram only with no virtual memory, you will never go back to running with virtual memory. Also ram is cheap enough nowaday to do this.

my speedtest just the online one came same numbers between this one and my 2 way wifi card on another laptop. 5g wifi network. Is the card really bad, I seem to be getting same 5mb/s speeds i normally get? 4k video loads on youtube just fine. Is it range thats gonna be the problem or signal strength?

Ive purchased a wifi 6 card and a 16gb 2666mhz ram stick. Is it worth it too upgrade the m.2 sata drive to an nvme drive or will the sata m.2 pre installed be fast enough? Will the nvme make the overall experience snappier by a major amount?

Yes, Windows comes "not activated"....wonder if this is a way to save costs. Well, it is an easy fix...just click on "troubleshoot" in the windows activation screen and it will fix for you. Annoying, but manageable.
I'm having problems with the Activation Troubleshoot, getting a message "unable to reach activation server." Tried to do the produckey and Change Key but Windows doesn't recognize the key as a valid one. This one might be going back.

Diminishing return for upgrading to nvme unless you doing anything with serious data access.
If you need more space and have to upgrade to a bigger ssd and don't want to just add another one in the 2nd slot, trying to conserve battery by only having one ssd, then the upgraded ssd should probably be nvme. Otherwise don't worry about changing to nvme
