I had already flashed the 1.05 bios on the motile site and the popup to install it kept failing. I manually installed it and fortunately did not brick my laptop (if it fails, look at the install script where you'll see the command it issues to flash the bios. you can try running that from command prompt, if it still fails like mine did, you'll have to remove the /R from the command and force it through. this is risky and not for the faint of heart. mine survived, no guarantees yours will).
this is a good little machine and i totally love it, but i HATE the way the bios updates work. it is by far my biggest complaint and if others who are less willing to tolerate it have the same issues, it'll drive them crazy. espectially if the install fails and they get a popup every time they log into windows.

thanks for letting us know. I hate whenever something as big as a bios update is pushed onto us like that. If it's just THX, not sure if i want it.
Also, definitely back up the windows key that's preinstalled in bios before updating. Mine was wiped in the process of manually updating.

this seems to pull updates from the "cloud" as a service. Not sure why, but it seems on yours it pulled down a bios update, whereas on mine, it does not. I am on bios 1.05 which I manually installed weeks ago using the f.bat file in the bios download. It applied successfully to my device without issues.
I would be curious to know what site and folder it is pulling these files from, as the motilesupport site is not up to date at all.
So, some of you already knew this was a Tongfang based chassis. I'd like to show you all the similar laptops using this chassis, because it'll give us lots of info on things like reviews from users from months ago, drivers, spec details we may not have known, longevity/quality, and more.
So let's begin!
https://www.mouse-jp.co.jp/m-book/mbx/ This is the Japanese version using what I believe is near exact or maybe same configuration/chassis, see the AMD Ryzen 5 version specifically (there's also others). If you're on Chrome, please use the right click "Translate to English" feature. Lots of great info here!
User Reviews available on similar configuration models (I used Chrome translate feature to read all of them, probably around 20 or so) spread on diff versions.

More info to come! I think this will help us all learn lots about upgradability, parts, future of Motile line, and more. It's possible parts that we can find for the above may be usable for Motile owners.

The costco HP i5 got a lot more attention. I am testing one right now but i still think the motile is better.
EDIT: Oops, I thought I attached it. Looks like I can't add it to the post, so I'm placing it on google drive: https://drive.google.co
Here is yet another one with the quickly recognizable design:

This motile laptop is a budget ultrabook. Emphasis on small, light, portable. perfectly acceptable for regular applications in windows, or linux.
