This is probably the lowest I have seen for this laptop. Worth buying one.

Depends on how much you value your time. For me, not worth the hassle of driving back to Walmart, and then setting up another laptop. Also, if the current one is working fine, I wouldn't risk getting another one in case the new one has issues.

Sometimes, we just need to settle for "good enough" instead of "winning" every deal!
God no. Do you know how much unnecessary additional work that creates for everyone?

Be a good person, don't create a bunch of extra logistical work, even if it's for Walmart, just to save $10. You'll be happy when someone thinks that way about you someday.
It's a Walmart brand.

Review, same brand but higher spec model.

BTW most laptops are made by contract manufacturers and this is no different

OP, no intent to hijack your post. Maybe you will see fit to post the following (I'm in my 70s, do not know how to post, &, frankly, don't care to learn): Walmart also has the Asus 15.6" w/ the same specs as that Staples deal (4 RAM, 128 SSD, Ryzen 3) which had the 14" maybe nearly 2 weeks ago (inc. fingerprint reader) that was originally $250 & then went down to $200. Well, this one is, unfortunately, not $200, but rather $250., and some folks might have interest in such. Thanks for your understanding.

Price keeps dropping which makes me nervous about quality and also buying in too early.

why? the build quality of this thing is top grade.
besides a weak screen, this build quality is on-par with other premium laptop.

So, I bought one on BF. I generally like it actually.
As I stated on other posts.
ACER Swift 1 seems to be much better laptop with similar price point.
For documentation, netflix, light coding and daily workflow, ACER Swift 1 is excellent. Processor is inferior.
For gaming, this one is probably better as it has a much better graphic processing capabilities than N5000.
I bought this since I already have Swift 1 that my family uses.

Build quality is somewhat mediocre. Not premium at all. I do like the design. Screen is acceptable but not bright. Overall feels very plastic. I don't know if the hinge will be durable for 3-4 years. Mine had a slight, barely visible color difference in the middle section. Not really visible easiliy but if you look carefully, you can see it. If there wasn't any price difference I might not have returned it just for that minor issue.
I bought it at 250, so I am returning it and bought another for a 30 dollar difference.

If you need a student windows machine with good battery, light-weight and premium feel, go for ACER swift 1.Surprisingly good quality and not slow at all for most work. I do recommend adding a M3 SSD (No NVME) drive for a slightly faster experience.
You can find that premium feel with ACER Swift 1.

If you need some gaming on top of that. Motile really is a good bet I think. But I think you would probably want the R5 version for that purpose. So really if people are buying the R3 version, I would rather go for Swift 1. Unless you already have Swift 1 like me.
Cheers.

This is a fantastic laptop for $219.

Is the quality less than my $800 LG Gram? Of course it is.

But what $219 laptop with upgradable memory and disk, a backlit keyboard and a decent 14" 1080p display can you get for $219?

The Ryzen 3 is a far superior chip compared to that Pentium. You also get double the storage of the Acer. And finally, the Motile is lighter than the Acer, not to mention cheaper with the price you linked. Don't buy old intel junk. Acer should be ashamed they're using outdated components in their computers.

The Acer Swift 1 may not be a reasonable alternative for some people considering this laptop as the RAM is not upgradeable, but the 1 year subscription to MS Office may be of value to those not using Google Apps (docs, etc).

Also, NVMe and SATA are types of M.2 form factor drives, both are solid state drives (SSD).

I really don't get why Walmart keep dropping the price. I don't even think they are making money at this price point.
