For the benefit of the impluse buyer, read this first. I did a bit of research on this bike and the consensus is that at the common sale price of $299, it's appropriately priced for what you get. This normally sells for $399, not the $699 listed on dick's site, and for what you recieve the quality is closer to the 299 mark than it is the 399 mark.
Other than that it seems like a fairly well received bike for the price.
These go on sale for$299 a few times a year. I picked it up back in April for this price

Right, it's a very basic "mountain" bike that would be tolerable on smooth single track.
If you actually want a functional suspension fork with real dampening so it's not a pogo stick...a basic rockshox fork is around $250.
The fork on this bike is akin to driving a hoopty car with blown shocks/struts that's just bouncing along on it's springs and bumpstops.

The shock isn't that bad. It's not great but has been surprisingly good for the price. It smooths out bumps and roots well on non-technical single track paths. I wouldn't take it on anything serious though. It's well worth $300 and barring a good deal on something used, this is about the best bike for $300.
Your other option may be to repurchase it and then return it with the black friday receipt if their return policy allows more than 2 weeks for returns.

I have it and got it for free by accident. It's a good solid bike. Feels light and good mechanics.
+1. I also have this bike. Great bike for great price. It is true this bike typically goes on sale from 299-349 Range but this is the lowest price.
