Austin Bazaar has a sale on a Casio Privia PX-870 bundle with a 10% off coupon (SAVE10) and free shipping. No sales tax for me (YMMV), so it was $809.99 to my door. This beats Amazon by $90 + tax (~$65) right now and beats the lowest recent price on Amazon ($817) without considering the bench and bundle or the tax savings.
This rates very well for pianos under $1000.

The 870 has 256 note polyphony (astounding sound reproduction!) (and the Privia 860 has 192 which is still a huge difference vs my Yamaha DGX-650 which has 128).
Privia 870 also has 4 speakers vs: 2 speakers on the 860. And best of all, the 870 has better connectivity to PC/MAC/Android devices via USB cable.
NEITHER the 860 or the 870 has bluetooth or wifi. >:o That infuriates me because it would cost very little to add that feature yet casio hasn't done so.
Both 860 and 870 have dual headphone inputs. I also like the closing lid covering the keys and the entire stand is of decent quality.
One final note: If you're looking for instructions on how to assemble the entire thing when you get it, in my 860, the assembly instructions were somewhere in the MIDDLE of my instruction book (I think after the English section). That was another dumb move.
I would jump on this in a heartbeat IF this had bluetooth to connect to a tablet or other learning device. For now, I will just stick to the two I have.
Dang, talk about putting the cart before the horse. 😬
That's why I recommend parents who don't play piano themselves to only invest in a digital piano when their kids are beginners. Majority of kids quit in 3 to 5 years. It's never too late to buy them an acoustic piano once they've demonstrated their determination to continue their lessons.
Thats so true. This one is light, doesnt need tuning, and has a small footprint. I guess I could sell it, but at parties we sometimes get the jovial musically inclined guest...

Good for you letting them quit. I was forced to play way too long and have no interest in pushing my kids now
Thanks
Having one of these is good if you dont have much space in the house or if you're not sure your kids will play. If my kids become more serious then we'll get a real piano.
