Call 1-866-217-4736 from a registered phone and limit Citi selling your information to third parties!

This applies to all Citi cards including cards like Costco issued by Citi.

Remember to ask for a written confirmation in the automated system at the end.

There are massive data aggregation companies like Factual and Roam. They pay money to apps to give people your location history and build your profile.

They then buy information from financial institutions to tie it to the places you visited

Then they buy information and match up financial transaction time stamps to anonymized store purchase data (from like free rewards cards) to figure out what you bought.

They also then collect public information about you on age, and other demographics

Then they sell all of this as a package to anyone who will pay for it.

update: for those of you who asked about Chase, you must call: 1-888-868-8618. It requires more information than the Citi system when asked if you are a resident of CA, just say yes and limit additional sharing!

Just chatted with citi online and they said they don't do that. But could just be the rep I was connected to. I had to go through five Walmart chat reps earlier for a price match because they were all so vastly different with why they couldn't help. So who knows.

Thanks for this. I did not have the restrictions set for the third-party data sharing, so I did upon this reminder. I resist these banks' sneaky ways to take advantage of us in every way, including but not limited to the mandatory meditation clause (I refused that in writing). We cannot be cautious enough. I used to work for W---s F---o so I know firsthand how it is all about setting not-so-obvious traps for unwary customers.

The usual advice is to not cancel cards because it can negatively affect your credit score. But I agree, Citi removed all the benefits I got their card for in the first place and now it just seems like a liability knowing they are pulling this crap too.

It's good to know but its aggregated info. Even if you dont share, it's designed to target marketing and products towards people like you anyway. So no way to avoid the marketing or products.

I don't know, for some reason I don't think mandatory meditation is that bad. Mandatory mediation on the other hand...

Then again, I'm sure many people are just like you and hate meditation.

Thankyou, i have had it with them, i tried to rent a car and they no longer offer rental coverage which is insane for a major cc.
