Call 1-866-217-4736 from a registered phone and limit Citi selling your information to third parties!

This applies to all Citi cards including cards like Costco issued by Citi.

Remember to ask for a written confirmation in the automated system at the end.

If you don't understand why this is important read the NYT article or below:

https://www.theverge.com/2019/12/...york-times

There are massive data aggregation companies like Factual and Roam. They pay money to apps to give people your location history and build your profile.

They then buy information from financial institutions to tie it to the places you visited

Then they buy information and match up financial transaction time stamps to anonymized store purchase data (from like free rewards cards) to figure out what you bought.

They also then collect public information about you on age, and other demographics

Then they sell all of this as a package to anyone who will pay for it.

update: for those of you who asked about Chase, you must call: 1-888-868-8618. It requires more information than the Citi system when asked if you are a resident of CA, just say yes and limit additional sharing!

I'd gladly pay a $5 Amazon GC to whoever wants to sell us all the addresses and personal data of the terrible people who work at these companies...

If I opt out, does it affect my background verification for new employment with new employer?
It depends on the opt-out reason you choose. If you opt out of their restricted public records products, it may affect your background verification for new employment.

Individuals may request to opt-out of having personal information about themselves made available through certain LexisNexis products and services, in accordance with legal requirements or if permitted by LexisNexis policy. Such requests are referred to as "Information Suppressions."

LexisNexis permits individuals to have certain personal information about themselves suppressed from LexisNexis public records that are available to the general public over the Internet.

Public and elected officials, including law enforcement officers, and private individuals who are facing a substantial risk of physical harm or who are victims of identity theft may request to have personal information about themselves suppressed from LexisNexis products and services available to subscribers of our restricted public records products.

These products are available to commercial and government entities that meet LexisNexis credentialing requirements and are used to detect and prevent fraud, enforce transactions, perform due diligence, and other critical business and government functions.

LexisNexis does not suppress personal information from databases used by law enforcement customers.

LexisNexis also does not suppress personal information from the following products and services: products containing information regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (except as required by law); third party data available through real time gateways; news; and legal documents.

This policy only applies to personal information that is available through LexisNexis-owned databases. Please note that Information Suppressions applied to LexisNexis databases will not prevent other companies or public records agencies from collecting or disseminating personal information.

Documentation Required for Suppression Requests
Requests for suppression from restricted public records products must include documentation substantiating the risk of physical harm or the individual's status as an identity theft victim. LexisNexis reserves the right to determine, in its sole reasonable discretion, what documentation meets this criteria. If your suppression request is not approved we will promptly inform you about that determination.
  • If you are a victim of identity theft, submit a copy of a police report documenting the identity theft or documentation that verifies the identity theft claim such as a letter from your credit card company, and an Identity Theft Affidavit; or
  • If you are a law enforcement officer or public official, submit a letter from your supervisor stating that your position exposes you to a threat of death or serious bodily harm; or
  • If you are at risk of physical harm but do not work in law enforcement, submit a copy of a court protective order, a copy of a police report or similar documentation such as a letter from a shelter administrator or a health care professional

OP is confusing. What changed at citi? Does it only matter if you use the app? The link mentions nothing about citi specifically.

Thank you for the info. It,but, looks like out of stock now.
Edit: Also it's not free any more via internet order.
Don't use the link @wspfan provided as that seems like a commercialized front company link. Its the LexisNexis person file report he's referring to which should be obtainable for FREE. Just Duck-search LexisNexis report and use a direct link to them. Note that they're a sloppy company when it comes to responding to free file info requests - you may need to set reminders for yourself each wk its delayed and prompt them to respond either via online chat (if you get lucky to get them on chat) or via phone call.

Why isn't this front page? How many more thumbs up is needed to move this to front page? Everyone on this website can benefit from reading this thread. I understand this post might not be a money maker for Slickdeals/Goldman Sacks... Come on, do the right thing.

A better question is how did you get a slick deals "pro" rating with 70 reps and I only have "learner " with 102 reps? Shouldn't I be pro by now? Just curious how the sd ratings work. Thanks 😎

Yes, they may send it around that time frame, but my dumb mind was on permanent vacation, thankfully, the rep check into it.

Regarding the LexisNexis National Credit File Report, always request directly from the source and it's free. Never request through third party. That third party above is a law firm that may collect and sell your info.

Request directly from the source for free below:

You can also opt out of LexisNexis below:

Quote from shinyraindrops :
I've been opted out of Lexis Nexis for years, so I guess there's no report for them to send me right?

For people that value privacy, they should opt out of all the data brokers they can. Some make it easy. Others not so much. Others you have to nag them endlessly until they do it just so you stop nagging them. I had to nag one for 2 years before they finally removed me from their database. Hopefully California has made that much easier. Thanks California!

Here are a couple of threads with lists of data brokers to opt out of. The threads are old but are still valid.

https://www.reddit.com/r/technolo...und_check/
https://www.reddit.com/r/technolo...und_check/
Since those Reddit posts are several years old there have been many more companies that collect your data such as:

https://www.checkpeople.com/opt-out

and

https://nuwber.com/removal/link

and

https://www.instantcheckmate.com/opt-out/

and many more.
Just Google yourself and go thru a dozen or more Google search pages and you'll see those you're into. Try Bing too.
There should be opt-out links in most of these data sites.

Keep in mind that this is a never ending quest as more and more sites develop to do this.

As far as the:

www.optoutprescreen.com

is concerned you MAY NOT want to opt out if you're interested in special offers on receiving and collecting airline miles/reward points/etc. offers to build/add your accounts for free airplane trips/hotels/shopping/etc.
Sometimes these special offers are not subject to the various credit card limitations like you can not get a bonus after spending X.XX $ within 3 months IF you've applied or owned that card in the past 2 years, etc.

If you opt out you'll not get these offers.

Do not try online.

For Lexis-Nexis the fastest way to get your all encompassing consumer report is to call the toll free #: 1-888-497-0011.

They'll register you and give you a consumer #.
Just make sure you request a hard paper copy of your all encompassing consumer report mailed to you.
You'll also get a letter with a PIN.
