Pretty good price for 10th gen 2-in-1. If it wasn't for the dim display in these Inspiron 5000 of < 200 nits, I'd be in.

Can you please share the link, is the Amex deal still live?
https://slickdeals.net/f/13681409-amex-offer-for-dell-120-back-for-599-spend-at-dell

I used a 10% off coupon and added one year of accidental damage to get it to $605ish after taxes. If you don't have a coupon, it's still $599.99 before taxes.

I bought the this one: https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/2...25491dswgh

A good screen that is usable would be in the high 90's. This laptop's screen is horrible.

Really wanted to keep it but will be returning.
Hahaha, for general use it's more than enough. If you want better screen for 500$ you are insane

Ended up paying an extra $100 but this one had everything that I was looking for:

I don't really plan on gaming much or at all, would this be good for Photoshop or is there a better deal on a laptop?
I ended up getting this:
https://slickdeals.net/f/13755047-thinkbook-13s-13-laptop-13-3-fhd-1920-x-1080-ips-anti-glare-300-nits-16gb-ddr4-2400mhz-512gb-ssd-pcie-649

Lower specs will bring the price down but this would be an ideal photoshop setup on the lower end of the price scale.

The display on my I3 version purchased recently is quite good. No issue with the brightness or color. I paid $350 for mine and thought it was very nice for the price, comparable with other IPS display on this price range. Actually most laptops in the price range have TN type of display which is inferior to the IPS.

I suppose if you need to have premium display for whatever reasons, you should up your budget accordingly. You get what you pay for.

Anyone have a vote on what the best all around laptop brand is, nowadays (hp, dell, Asus, chromebook, etc? Doesn't have to be stellar in every way, but like 7/8 out of 10 in most every dept. I had a 15.6" Asus touchscreen that I loved, but got stolen. I was given a 17.3" Dell inspiron 5765 non-touch screen for Christmas two yrs ago and have had nothing but problems out of it (within the first 3mos of owning it, I got the blue screen of death about 6-7 times). Maybe I just got a lemon, idk. Dell's updates are constant and when I've looked into them, pretty shady.
What is your budget? I'd suggest a Dell 7000 14" about $900. Make sure you get the best warranty protection from them. They do monthly warranty now, for better or worse. If under $500, check Dell Refurbished store online. They carry off lease Latitudes and such. Get Grade A and it should look like new. Different sale every month. Go for 7000 series Latitude.

Always consider business laptops, first, though. Either Latitude or HP Elitebook or perhaps Lenovo Thinkpad. I have used Dell Latitudes for many years without a problem. Very solid laptops.

Is the screen dim on the Costco one too?
I am not too thrilled with the Costco one - on the dim side. I guess your eyes get used to it, but I'm used to brighter displays. Your other option is the Inspiron 7000 14 which is about $949.

Does anyone know how this is with angle viewing? I need a laptop for son that he can watch movies/videos without having to move the laptop whenever he moves a few centimeters to the side and sees the blacks being distorted.

Edit: Budget $500 and under. Debating this model or the Lenovo for $350 (https://slickdeals.net/f/13745816-lenovo-ideapad-s340-laptop-ryzen-5-3500u-15-6-1080p-8gb-ddr4-256gb-ssd-vega-8-win-10-349-99-free-shipping-office-depot?src=catpagev2). All that really matters is screen quality and viewing angles, so if this is is not $150 dollar better in that category, then Lenovo wins I guess.

I think you would have to consider if you want a 2-in-1 or not. With this one you get those extra angles and positions that you can move the laptop into. I actually love that about my new laptop. I have a 13.3 inch currently but about to start using the 14 inch I bought.

I love the 2-in-1 but my son says he doesn't need it and wouldn't use it.

Asus is top generic brand, then Acer is next. Mac is overprice, surface is slightly better overprice brand.

I apologize, I meant "Acer" being the 15.6 touchscreen I had and loved! Thanks for the response.
