OP: The rtings link you posted is for the M8 series. The item on sale at Walmart is M6. Big difference: https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews...rison_2616

I own 2 Vizio TVs, when you turn it on it'll power on to whatever input you were last using. If you are using a firestick, or cable box plugged into hdmi 1 that is what it'll go to. It will not automatically power up to the smart cast screen where all of the apps reside unless it's the last thing you used. And even then, it isn't littered with ads. It has recommended movies and shows to watch from apps you have installed and then an app row. It is not overly obtrusive in any way.

This is not the M8 model (90 local dimming zones), this is the M6 (10 zones), I believe there's even an M7 with 20 zones

Only 10 dimming zones make this equivalent to 2013 Vizio E-series, which I have. Picture quality is good though.

The Roku TVs (eg TCL) don't really blast you with ads. You might look into a Harmony remote... I literally never see my TV menus, because immediately after power on it's switching to an input based on my activity.

I had an early vizio 4k and was blown away by the picture quality but then I got the tcl p605 and that thing blew the vizio away in terms of visual quality. Now both of those are ancient (in terms of electronics obsolescence) and I can only surmise that the new R625 is better than my p605 so I'd say spend a little more for the tcl.

looking for an answer to this also. either these guys don't care about gaming or they don't have the info. need a tv without input lag, has good 4k, and is affordable. any advice or experience with this tv or another would be great.

EDIT: I see it has "minimal" input lag and "low" latency. what does that even mean? do I need NO input lag and NO latency or is this what I need to game without hiccups?
