This was $998 in the Black Friday timeframe so a better price is possible, but I was getting ready to order non-refurb from B&H at $1299 so pulled the trigger on this instead, can buy AppleCare+ for the price difference.

This was $998 with 15% cash back on Cyber Monday. This is not a bad deal but not the best its been.

The same 2019 model retail price is $1799, currently $1599 at B&H, so one third off for the 2018 model here. From what I can tell the differences between 2018 and 2019 are negligible, same processor architecture 0.1 (!) GHz faster in 2019, minor keyboard difference, rumor of faster hard drive in 2018. I did just use AppleCare on my 15" 2016 for the keyboard replacement at 2 years 10 months, so it's something to consider.

Tax kills this deal unless it goes back to below $1k so that savings can take care of the tax.
