Note: Contrary to several of the early comments, the Matt Smith bundle DOES now include season 7 (apparently added to the Vudu bundle recently). Don't double buy it

What a tragedy that Eccleston and Tennant are in SD!!
Thanks! Been waiting for a good deal for Doctor Who.

To those wondering, the Eccleston and Tenant episodes were not shot in HD, so they are only available in SD.
From what I've read, the show runners didn't want to use HD because it would expose too many flaws in the set designs, particularly the TARDIS. The show runners changed when Matt Smith started, so they rebuilt the sets to a higher standard.

Thank you for the post! Glad to see Doctor Who finally on sale.

That being said, why do Doctor Who bundles have to be so complicated? It seems I would have to buy three different bundles to get the whole show seasons 1-7 (new) because the Matt Smith bundle doesn't have season 7, that's a SEPARATE bundle lol. Can anyone confirm, unless I'm missing something?

I wanna say that's only because those weren't shot in HD originally? Could have made the HD remastered version available though since it's available on Bluray

*edit - upconversion, not remastered

That seems to be the case. It's the nature of the beast because doctors slightly overlap seasons. Some people like the show seasons vs the doctors. Who knows?

This is a very helpful explanation. Thank you

Question! So I know I'm the original poster. I just started exploring VUDU in earnest. Do you guys think it's a decent platform with staying power? I'm trying to determine if I want to buy and keep Dr. Who on here vs Amazon.

Can confirm on earlier comments, the Matt Smith bundle does not include Series 7. You'll have to buy the other $10 bundle for that. Either way, still a pretty solid deal here. Previously it would have cost 5x this to buy all of this.

ALSO, it does include the specials! Just not Day of the Doctor or Time of the Doctor.

Vudu is owned by Walmart so it seems solid. Although, rumors are that Walmart wants to sell it. But I think it would still exist with a new owner. Amazon is a behemoth that isn't going anywhere.
