Brokerages services are a commodity especially if you are a passive investor (eg execution speed means nothing if you trade a couple of times a year).

Now that commission are $0, that's one less item to differentiate Fido from Schwab from etrade to Vanguard etc.

Majority of high net worth will likely have to file taxes so this would have value to most people. Low cost move to differentiate Fido from other brokerages.
High net worth individuals have accountants, wake up.

I see where your confusions lie. You are confusing ultra high net worth with just high net worth.

You are also confusing that being high net worth require having complex investments that require an accountant to manage or file taxes whether neither are true.

You can be sitting on $20K or $5 million in a total market index fund at Fidelity and don't need an accountant to file taxes.

20 off TurboTax or HR Block. The 30 off TaxAct.... I'll be skipping all of those.

Same here (I have 529 accounts only).

Offer showed up this morning for me. I did experience some of the issues others have noted. I'm on a Win7 desktop. First attempt to access offer via the link on bottom right of accounts summary page yielded an error. Retried link a second time as suggested and, voila, it worked. This took me away from Fid site and to a TT landing page where I scrolled all the way to bottom so I could download product. Picked Premier for $0 and went though the steps to get code. It led me to login to my TT account I already had set up from prior year. Was able to dowload. Had to wait patiently as the stuff did its thing in my download folder and became truly executable. At one point it asks for the code previously given during the ordering process.

FYI, and apologies if already stated by others, once you get free Premier successfully installed, you can UPGRADE to Home&Business for only $10 by launching TT, hitting HELP in upper left of TT and select UPGRADE. Very Slick!! Thank you OP and all others commenting here!! And Repped!

BTW and FWIW, I'm not in any active trader programs, but have gotten the offer for the past three years including this year's TY2019 offer...

Can anyone explain the logic of this move? Offering a $40 discount to a "high value" client? Why would you give the slightest fark about $40 if you have >$1M in no retirement investable assets? And let's dispense with platitudes that "this is how you become a millionaire".
i can guarantee u..it is not necessarily assets in "non retirement accounts".

look for posts where someone had 1 penny in a "non retirement account" & got the offer.

it is overall assets total..

also, as pointed out....not all "high value" client need cpa/accountant.....

See first attachment. You have to scroll all the way to the bottom.

After clicking the Download button, you get the second page. Click the Buy button, and go thru the process as if you're buying. When finished, it will present the actual download link with the registration/activation code.

Yeah! The offer for free Premier showed up in my portfolio page today. I'm not an "active trader" but I am a long-time Fidelity customer.

I am an Active Trader Pro client, and have yet to see the link to download TT premiew. I do see a link to take $ 20 off/... I wonder even if it is free, if one still has to pay (a) federal filing fee (b) state of california filing fee.

For those who got the Download version of the "TT Premier for free" Fido offer, did Intuit make you go thru a credit card "purchase transaction" for $0 ? (That's how it was a year ago.)

Not true, I have 7-figures in Fido in a good mix of taxable and retirement accounts, no dice. Guess another year of no filing, IRS too poorly funded to catch me anyway.
