Good TV for the money, but it doesn't cure cancer like some people on here would have you believe. Picture quality wise, it beats lower end Samsung 6 and 7 series or lower end LG LED TVs hands down. It's also bright "enough" to do proper HDRs. Input lag is quite low so it's great for gaming. Retro games also look great on it without the annoying scroll shimmering problem I ran into with our old 7 series Samsung TV. Quality control is something I can't comment on, but I have both 2018 and 2019 versions and they're holding up just fine so far. Roku interfaces are fairly smooth on these also.

The price drops are to clear inventory for the incoming 2020 TCL TVs also the following trickle down features were announced at CES

Mini LED (2019 8 series) = Mini LED (2020 6 series)
QLED with FALD (2019 6 series) = QLED with FALD (2020 5 series)

To QLED the 6 series or to not QLED the 6 series, that is the question.

Rtings comparo page of the two 6 series: https://www.rtings.com/tv/tools/c...5/613/1591

note: this deal is 2019 QLED in the comparo.

Too many variables to consider but seems like non-qled is better at motion and pretty sure that outweighs all the better specs of the qled for me. Especially since with all the praise for both, people started a chain of how garbage motion was. I didnt think it was that bad, so I'll take the tv that's even slightly better at it. On top of that, the qled doesnt seem to be justified by the higher price value wise. Only thing that might let me consider the qled is if price gap lessens a bit and people can convince me there is no need to worry about panel lottery or is very rare to get a bad qled panel. Afaik, non-qled still plays the lottery and not enough comments from the qled buyers to really get a feel on what that lottery is like.

I've been waiting for TV deals for quite some time on bit on the 65in version of this model.

Great picture quality, especially when lights are off.

I guess that's better than the 55R613 available at Costco for $450 [costco.com]. This one adds QLED?
