The 8GB RAM is soldered, but there is an empty RAM slot which takes up to 16GB, for 24GB total.

Its slick, although will likely get some thumbs down from gamers because it doesn't have a dedicated video card.

RAM and memory are the same thing (random access memory.) No other recommendations, this is pretty good for the price.

The 8GB memory you buy it with will be soldered in, but there is an additional slot for upgrade, which I believe can take up to 16GB stick for 24GB total.

As far as storage goes, the M.2 PCIe slot is x4 and can be upgraded to 1TB. There is also a 2.5" SATA drive slot that I think is empty when you purchase, but can hold up to 2TB HDD as well.

Very good deal at $412. It doesn't look like it allows you to re-customize with additional Gfx card even though the main product page shows this as part of the line (of course this model tops out at >$1K in other configs, so probably wouldn't be a good deal even if we could add video card).

Info says "WVA" panel but it's unclear what this is. It seems unclear from various sites about it. It apparently just means "Wide Viewing Angle" in Dell's terms, without explaining what type it really is. But it apparently isn't IPS. I currently have a Dell Latitude and being used to IPS screens, I hate this Dell as for viewing at off-angles (especially tilt-up-down if not almost exactly perpendicular to my face). I'm not sure if this Vostro has a better display; I would hope so.

good deal, but any customization seems to jack the price back up.......I'd take Win Pro over Home...and it doesn't look like you can upgrade RAM/SDD size.....etc....... soooooo, I guess this is an "as is" price only deal....which is pretty good for a basic Dell laptop.....

Amex business cards should still be offering 10% back at Dell, up to $1500. Mine expires in 14 days. Another 2-4% back at CB sites brings this thing to around $385 after tax. Not bad at all! In for one.

HDMI 1.4 doesn't support 4k@60hz. Correct me if I'm wrong. What about the USB-C?

15.6-inch FHD (1920 x 1080) Anti-glare LED Backlit Non-touch Narrow Border WVA Display

According to the internet, WVA, or VA, is sort of a compromise between TN and IPS. It has better color accuracy and viewing angles than TN, but it's not as good in either of those things as an IPS panel. However, VA typically offers better black levels and less backlight bleed or "glow" compared to IPS panels.

You click win 10 pro for $32, and price goes up to over, $600, then downgrade again, and it goes to ~$580.

Got to be a way to customize, and then apply promo.
