I have a Wii u still in the box from years ago. I have slowly bought games and accessories for it over time. If I buy this would I still be able to play it single player long after services are done with Wii u? Basically in the year 2035?

Yeah but I would get on there and upgrade your games as you buy them. Don't want to be stuck with day 1 bugs in 2035.
Does anyone still play this? It's an online multiplayer game, so if the community has moved on to switch...
Yeah there is still a good community in the first game. Also has a decent single player campaign as well as split screen play in a balloon popping mode (albeit with a wii remote tied to a classic controller for motion controls for P2). And should you have two or more Wii U consoles and games there is local wireless LAN mode.
I just got this on ebay about 2 weeks ago for my kids. Can take some time to find a match but people still play. Kinda annoying you need exactly 8 (4v4) to do a game and it can't be 2v2 or something like that. The kids enjoy it.

Same here my kids like the online battles too, but we dont like that one player can use our 65" TV and the other player is stuck staring at the small handheld unit. That's been an issue on lots of Wii U games (Sonic racing, etc). But we still love our Wii U!

2035 your biggest concern may be batteries for the gamepad.
Thats actually one of the things that I appreciate about the Xbox - for better or worse, AA batteries are likely to be available for the foreseeable future.

Worst case scenario is to keep the tablet plugged into the outlet.
As someone else said there are still multiplayer matches available but it's mostly Japanese folks, and the Wii U is extremely hackable so cheating is rampant.

There's a single-player campaign plus unlockable content via amiibos. Worth the price IMO if you never play online.
