Getting ready for 25 comments asking if this has a second RAM slot...

I will save you all the hassle, it does NOT have a second slot for RAM. RAM is single channel/slot only.

Newer generation of Chromebook with 4GB or more ram can run Android apps. Chromebook should be running for 8 hours or more. Chromebook is good for education and some school work. Chromebook can be faster in booting up and resume. Chromebook can be more secure when it comes to web browsing. Your profile is web base and very portable to another chromebook.

PC/Laptop - can run all the windows apps. Most PC can install full blown linux OS or dual booting. Most PC can upgrade HD and ram. Most PC can be compatible to most, if not all the software for professionals ( CAD, Designs, database ....etc )

For just ease of use and simple web browsing, chromebook may be better. If you want to run something locally in need of running linux or Windows, then PC. For flexibility of hardware upgrades, PC also.

for 200 bucks, hw upgradeable, backlit keyboard and FHD screen ( IPS ) I assume. This PC should be a very decent value.
Which can have more tabs open? 4gb chromebook or 8gb windows pc? Most of my work is done with all of google's apps and while it's not going to be my main work station, something portable is needed.

Saying that Chromebooks are only good for web browsing just shows that you have never used a Chromebook in years. That's like saying your phone can only browse the web and make calls. If you are on the fence about a Chromebook and a very weak windows laptop I would take a hard look at the Chromebook
But this isn't a "very weak windows laptop." Yes, you can do all sorts of stuff on a chromebook, but find me a chromebook with comparable specs for this price.

It was $299 before Christmas, has most of the upgrades that most would want over the R3 version, 8GB RAM 256GB SSD.

I have the Ryzen 5 model (M142) and have been incredibly happy with it (typing on it right now). Highlights:

- Price
- Form-factor (incredibly light, punches above its weight in quality)
- Runs Ubuntu Linux perfectly [reddit.com]
- Very easy to upgrade (six screws on the back cover)

Highly-recommend. Yeah, I know, who's Motile? It's a cross-marketing product between Walmart and THX, with a Tongfang whitelabel laptop. Again, I've been very happy with mine over the last week.
