Informal poll: do people still buy the digital HD versions at $5 knowing that the 4K isn't included (unless Apple upgrades them later)? Just curious how fellow SDers rationalize their spending on digital goods.
For me, I could get the Blu-rays for $5, shuck the digital codes, and donate the disks to the library for a tax deduction.

I'm a total noob, but about how many do you have to donate to get decent deduction? Like how much did you get last time and how many you donated? Thanks
where can you buy any blu ray for $5 that includes digital? If it's a movie I like and it's on sale for $5 I just buy them in 4k not.I probably wouldnt invest more time to work it into a tax deduction.

Not every movie will get 4k. And if it does and you buy on Apple you will get the 4k upgrade, later upgrades don't feed into MA though.

Deductions are cumulative over the year and we donate A LOT of stuff. From kids clothes to toys to exercise gear... We average about $4k donations ($1k deductions) a year. So, it's not something I can nail down, but I'd guess $1-2 per movie (20%).

The MA transfers are the sticking point for me. If I'm spending $5 on HD, it's always Apple because they upgrade for free, but MA doesn't take the upgrade so I feel it's wasted money and I should just wait for the 4K to go on sale for under $10. I have about 200 digital HD movies, but I got most on Vudu so iTunes didn't recognize the 4K (which chaffs).

Thought vudu 4k movie transfers via ma to itunes in 4k. Does itunes need to have it be 4k? It's been a minute for me to recall.
I always buy the blu or 4k if possible, movies I don't wNt to buy, I buy stream version or movies that I can't get a discount because it's an old movie
Ive been waiting to see if Blindspotting will have a 4k disc? Or, if a blu ray w redeem as 4k using its hd redeem at itunes?
I have to check my Moonlight blu, if may redeem a hd code for 4k at itunes? I believe there is a 4k redemption website to check.

They do. HD -> HD and 4K -> 4K. But why should I buy an HD movie for $5 if I can wait a little and hope the 4K drops to $5 if it does? Just trying to rationalize buying HD anymore. No judgement if anyone does.
I just wish studios would get their acts together on licensing. Everything should be MA honestly.

*Love jones for 4.99 at itunes? I only see vudu showing sd for that movie? So, it'll transfer to MA but then get stuck as SD in vudu?
