For those who need a service like this, use Privacy(dot)com. It's free and it lets you create virtual credit cards that you can use for stuff like this. You can set specific per-charge limits so they can't charge you more than they're supposed to. You can also set recurring or one time, or a specific length of time for the virtual card to be active. I use it for all of my free trials and stuff. I don't even need to cancel the trails anymore since I set the card to close after a specific date.

I used Visible for one month last year when they were giving out free phones for signing up with them.

Visible's customer service was shockingly poor. There was no way to contact them by phone or email. The only customer service available was by online chat. If they could not resolve your issue in one chat session, you had to contact them again and start completely over with a new representative.

Multiple times the chat representative told me my problem had been escalated and someone would contact me, but I was not contacted in any way, by phone or by email, other than to receive surveys about their customer service. You can guess my responses.

If you deal with Visible, plan on having technical and billing issues, and plan on not being able to resolve them with their customer service.

Anyone knows how old the trade-in phone can be?

I can't get the MEID for my really really old phone (Android 2.2.2 Froyo!) to go through the checker.
Isn't there some number combination you can enter on your phone to get the MEID or IMEI? Or in the setup "About" or inside after removing the cover plate?

I see that I will be charged $11 today (tax) and $20 at activation. If I never activate the phone, will I still get charged $20? I'd be buying this as a backup, so that's why I wouldn't need to activate it.
Activation is a poor term they are using. It means when they ship it or you get charged the 20 dollars and they ship it fast so your total would be 11 dollars and 20 dollars will get charged like in a few minutes when they create a shipment for u.

Could be its a locked phone?
Many of the Moto phones have more bands open and come unlocked. That is why they are so popular.

2G bands GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 - SIM 1 & SIM 2
CDMA 800 & TD-SCDMA
3G bands HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100
4G bands LTE band 1(2100), 3(1800), 5(850), 8(900), 38(2600), 39(1900), 40(2300), 41(2500)
Speed HSPA, LTE-A

Typical trade-ins require no screen or case cracks and no accessories, just the phone.
I have swapped for three phones and sent in phones with cracked screens each time with no issues. Phone has to be able to turn on is the only requirement.

My wife got the ZTE Blade A7 Prime from Visible and it has really low signal strength compared to other phones we have on Visible. ZTE even swapped the phone for another one and we had the same issue.

Likely your state charging tax on the full amount of the purchase?
