The "Bowl Lift" models have metal gears. They fit under most kitchen counters (they are HEAVY, you don't usually want to move a kitchen aid.) They also have more torque than the tilt head models.

The Tilt Head models have plastic gears. They may fit under a counter, but NOT while in use. When you raise the head, it will bang into the counter. They are best situated on your kitchen "island". Tilt head models are also lighter because people often move them around. Because they are more portable some people like them better.

We bought my wife's from Sam's for $240 years ago so judging by that it is a good deal. But, I may sound biased. You can consider instead that the lower line Artisan series is the same price and is +6 here. Then, there's a +12 deal here from a different merchant. And that it hit the Frontpage deals twice here and here.

Wow. I'm surprised that this isn't more popular. Oh well.

I'm a bit surprised this deal isn't getting more attention. I missed out on the $179.99 Target deal so I snatched one up when I saw this price on Saturday.

$200 for a Pro Series is a steal.

sorry... I was in a hurry. My wife's co-worker is a nice older man who loves cooking. He and his wife frequently invite us to their home for dinners. I don't know anything about cooking. I just thought it would be nice to get him a Kithcenaid blender... I've seen his old one. He said he bought that one over 20 years ago.

(but my wife somewhat of a cheapskate... if I told her that I was buying him a $200 blender, she'll either flip out or think that I was leaving her for him.. just kidding)

I ordered this from another place last week. $200 is a good price for this especially it also comes with extra attachments, but some people prefer the tilt-head stand mixer.
This is quite different from a blender, and not sure how useful it is for normal cooking other than making mash potato. It's more for baking cake and bread which I am going to try.

FrozenBeer This is a different machine than a blender.

Kitchen aid DOES make a very nice blender. You should also consider Oster and perhaps Hamilton Beach. The next step up is a breville and Omega, and IF you can afford it, Wolf/Viking Vitamix and Blendtec are AMAZING. Vitamix and Blendtec often sell refurbs for pretty good discounts

AVOID Bullets and Ninjas and the half truths/half lies in their marketing

which style is more likely to last longer? Smilie

also, I thought these things have much longer warranties than just a 1-year?

thanks!
