Got the following email, shouldn't have bothered upgrading the Dark Knight Trilogy couple weeks ago. Oh well.

Your WB movies are being upgraded

This week we began upgrading your Warner Bros. movies that were purchased on Vudu in HDX to 4K UHD. We're excited and know you are too.

You will notice that your Warner Bros. movies will appear at the top of your My Movies. This will continue as eligible movies are upgraded in the coming weeks.

Please Note:
In some cases you may need to start a new Vudu session (quit the app, sign out/in online) to see these upgrades.

I'm guessing their doing this as rolling upgrade and people will see this upgrade at different times as their database is updated. I haven't even received the email yet. Thanks for the information.

While this seems exciting it is extremely limited.

so far I am on Page 2 and is only valid for select titles that were purchased directly from Vudu. It does not include disc to digital, instant watch or codes that were redeemed. They are also saying that it does not Port out to other providers.

None of my Warner movies have been upgraded. Not the Batman movies, Harry Potters, Gremlins, or anything else. Is this targeted?

I've been saying this should be the norm for a long time. If I buy a movie once and they upgrade it for free (or even like a $2 fee) each generation, that would keep me away from piracy.

This is why I refuse to buy a UHD if I own a copy in HD or HDX. At some point I figure the studios will upgrade them for free.

Interesting, but looks like it will prevent you from buying a UHD MA copy on Vudu since you would already own it on Vudu in UHD

I'm expecting more and more automatic upgrades over time. Apple was already doing it. Now Vudu is taking a small step. I'm also not buying UHD copies of all my HD movies, though I would do like a small upgrade fee for some.
