It's very well reviewed at $130 and it's not old, so $100 is great.
Also available for $80 at Microcenter but only 16GB storage. Imo 32GB is minimum. (The OS takes >7 GB, so 16 leaves you with ~9, 32 has ~23 free. Big difference.)

Note that if you're thinking of getting this as an extra laptop in addition to an Ultrabook like T470s or T480s, then you'll be disappointed to find out that this one actually weighs almost the same as the 14" ultrabooks (this 11.6" 100e — 1.21kg, 14" T480s — 1.32kg — less than a 10% difference), which, IMHO, make it a poor purchase (I think these are also much slower than even the dual-core laptops, or the $750 laptops from 8 years ago), unless you're specifically limited by a $100 budget.
tl;dr: if budget $100, great buy; if budget higher ($400+?), too slow.
Not good idea to install Ubuntu. Hardware is weak to run standard distro Linux like Ubuntu. it will perform poor even installed light weight Linux. chromeOS is the best for such hardware.

Showing that the keyboard is spill resistance.
As for performance...well, for programming, anything will work. But I wouldn't use this to do anything that's cpu/disk bound.
