Thank you for that random unrelated thought
Asus =/= Dell.
Looks good, specs are ok. Nowhere on there does it say IPS and nits are 250 if I read this right. 3.5lbs is nice, a little big for an airplane laptop but might be ok.

Also googling around for benchmarks I found this GTA V video. 720p at 60fps low, 900p is 40's, 1080p is 30 or less. I mean it is integrated, after all

edit : here's BF5. 30ish fps in 768p.

I bought that Dell and I love it once I upgraded to 16GB dual channel (it came with 1x8GB) and then figured out how to unlock the TDP to start playing games (it's locked at 15W by default). I think the Dell 2 in 1 is nice deal because it's slightly smaller and lighter at 14" and it can be converted into a tablet albeit a clunky one. It does have USB C charging too.

So far I've been able to pretty much play every game I've thrown at it on 900p-1080p with low to medium settings locally. But with Geforce Now I can play virtually anything via streaming!

I bought the same one yaySmilie csn you point me to the right direction to unpock the tdp and maybe a link to what type of memory you added?

Dell had something similar like this deal couple weeks on SD 14" 2 in 1, might still be going on. Upgraded to 32 gigs and upgraded wifi card to killer 1650x and did a fresh load of windows I'm very impressed with speeds.

What is the difference with this model? It. Doesn't look like a deal to me.

I'm with you for Dell at the bottom but Lenovo is at the top for me. Haven't even had to deal with CS for any of them, they've all worked perfectly out of the box and for years afterwards.
I have had similar good luck with Lenovo: 2 desktops, a laptop, and a network attached storage drive. Never had a problem.

I definitely cannot say the same for Dell, and I don't like all the bloatware on Dell computers, either.

Funny how our personal experiences differ, I'd rate Dell much higher - have gotten Latitudes, Vostro, Inspirons for the family and all have worked faultlessly for 5-10yrs each before deciding to retire or sell them in favor of an upgrade. I'm on my Latitude e6520 (i5-2520) right now, happily plugging away as my main work computer (heavy Office user, light gamer).

HPs on the other hand (/me shudders) nothing but problems with cooling fans, failing HD's (particularly Seagate, so I blame HP for trying to go bottom of the barrel HD provider), motherboard issues, boot problems, upgradability limitations.......

I guess every experience is different. Dell's business laptops have very little issues, however their consumer laptops tend to have numerous issues. Lower end HP's tend to be problematic for sure. I've had the least amount of issues with ASUS products. Lenovo has been hit or miss for me. Not big on Lenovo especially after the SuperFish and other spying scandals they had.

Because... I didn't understand your comment? Somebody randomly says something about dell on an Asus deal, someone points out Asus isn't dell, then you proceed to give us your rankings for manufacturers for some unknown reason.

Looking at the thread, there were a few others who commented about Brand reliability, so I simply placed my opinion. I've worked on computers so I was giving my opinion on them. You can take it however you like, but get your panties untwisted.

SOP with all new computers:
1. See box, get excited.
2. Open box, get more excited.
3. Usually replace primary HD (less expensive to get a better HD/SSD elsewhere).
4. Format HD/SSD during fresh installation of OS.
5. Install needed drivers.
6. Play/Use!

...thus we completely avoid any preinstalled software. Wink

AMD Ryzen 7 3700U as initial difference.

Pretty great deal, that R7's Vega 10 graphics are particularly impressive. Also, isn't this the one with the reputed 18-hour battery life?
No, this is the one with the puny 37Whr battery that, despite all odds, still somehow manages to clear 5 hours of battery life.
