It's excellent. The film was shot on 70mm film so it has resolution to spare in terms of 4k. The scan is very clean and you can really see each kernel of sand blowing in the wind. I was honestly impressed at how good the film scan was considering the films age. The visuals are stunning.

Thanks for the list; however it doesn't look like Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children is part of the $5 sale.

How's the 4K picture quality for Lawrence of Arabia? Can't find any reviews...

So - I bought the VHS (managed to avoid that BetaMax debacle). Then DVDs came out, and had a much better picture. Next it was BluRay - or HD DVD if you chose poorly.

Now I have the opportunity to buy the same movie a fourth time for home consumption, and presumably 8K versions are waiting in the wings.

Okay, I'll admit I only have Lawrence of Arabia in a single format - but it gets depressing when one considers the money these studios are printing just by shovelling their content onto a new platform - and in Sony's case, a platform they also sell!

Is there a way to buy these if you already own the HD version? I already own Bridge on the River Kwai, Lawrence of Arabia, and Moonlight in HD and would love to upgrade my digital copies to 4K.

If it makes you feel any better soon we will no longer purchase movies. Looks like all studios will be heading to the subscription service model. So no need to rebuy just pay monthly and you will get the 8k version when it comes out. However there will be an increase of cost for 8k.

Agreed. Imo, Lawrence and Silence are two of the best examples of how much an older film can be improved by 4k

I believe you can gift them to yourself and it will give you 4K

That would be nice, but no.

The Hurt Locker is also part of this sale, and it's been updated to Dolby Vison/Atmos.

I know it mentions "MA" up above, but I just wanted to confirm that Lawrence of Arabia does in fact transfer to VUDU in UHD. Thanks, OP!

Just bought Lawrence of Arabia via iTunes, but when I went to Movies Anywhere on my TV to watch, it said "This title is currently not supported in 4K." Luckily VUDU brings it up in UHD... but without HDR. Any insights from experts? Thanks!
