Don't forget that TaxAct is also a participant in the IRS Free File program. You qualify for TaxAct completely free, both federal and state, if:
  • Your Adjusted Gross Income is $59,000 or less AND your age is 56 or younger, OR
  • You are eligible for the Earned Income Tax Credit, OR
  • Free for Active Military for Adjusted Gross Income of $69,000 or less,
https://apps.irs.gov/app/freeFile/

"IRS Free File delivered by TaxAct" is the full TaxAct product - there are no limitations in the product available through IRS Free File, and no limitations unlike some other (non IRS Free File) "free" tax filing products.

Watch out for Tax Act! They advertise one price then as you file they say you don't qualify for the deal and charge you a ton more! I had a deal last year for $15 and when I got to the end it said I needed to pay for fed & state plus all the fees! They wanted $70 when all is said and done! They used to be really good but they've gotten greedy as of late! Credit Karma is completely free!
Worked beautifully, thanks.

I can confirm that it shows up as $5 for federal and $5 for state. Last year I paid $12.95 for fed, $34.95 for state so a great deal here.

ALSO, if you notice, there's an auto enroll button that supposedly locks in this discount for next year too. When you hover over the text it says, "Sign up for TaxAct auto-enroll and lock in your discount for your 2020 federal return. Plus, we'll have your return waiting for you next year when you are ready to file. And as always, pay only when you file.To lock in your discount, select the return(s) you wish to auto-enroll below"

Screenshots attached for proof.

Scroll down - it should be there. At least that's how I see it on my end.

You can lock the price as a previous user as well. I'm pretty sure the time limit would not apply after you are locked in.

Awesome - I started a return and logged in as an existing user and it still shows $5 price. Will see if that sticks when I get to the end..

I went to "My Account" and saw that it is added to my account in 2019 tax details. From previous years this is how we made sure an offer got applied to our account

Do you need deluxe version if are not using itemized deduction? My mortgage interest, insurance , other expenses combined do not meet itemized criteria .
