My first thread, so take it easy on me. My Costco in King of Prussia PA has both the 65" and 55" TCL 6-series (2018 models) in stock for $499.99. I picked up a 65" this afternoon and there were 4 more in stock. There looked to be at least that many 55". YMMV.
Don't buy this TV if you watch a lot of hockey. The dirty screen effect on panning shots is terrible. Otherwise, the TV is decent and gets pretty bright, but I think it's a bit overhyped on this site. If you only watch TV shows and 4k content, its perfectly fine, and a good TV for the price. I wouldn't recommend this TV if you watch a lot of sports.
My 55" is going back to Costco, once the Samsung Q70 goes on sale. I really want the Sony x950G, but Costco doesn't carry it.

Has nothing to do with that really. The gray uniformity sucks on this TCL. My Samsung RU7100 is 60hz, and sports look great. Yes, a 120hz panel would be preferred.
my stupid lame BB doesn't even stock TCL 6 series so I'm still looking. We all know this TV by now, not that risky, especially with Costco should you get less than satisfactory panel -- I was thinking I'll wait for Mini LED to come down but that could be awhile. All it takes is one chip supplier in China to shut down from virus. Anyway I think most of us got decent panels so don't generalize too much, mine is great after over a year. Some are also too picky for this price. My 4 series died after two years but I still shop TCL only.

Get out of here with your negativity. I have this tv and the 2019 Vizio P series. I honestly wish I saved the money and bought two of the 6 series Tcl. Show me another $500 65" tv that performs like this one? The Samsung Q60 and Q70 don't get as bright and don't work as well in a bright room. Last time I checked most people have windows and the sun comes through them. By all means spend $2000 on a Sony 950 but for $500 this is a slick deal.

Calm down, I clearly said it was a decent TV. Its just terrible for sports, especially hockey. Are you saying that yours doesn't have poor gray uniformity? Maybe you got lucky, because mine is bad. Rtings.com also says the gray uniformity is pretty bad.

Do I think the uniformity is as good as a $2,000 tv? No. But I ran both screen tests on both my TCL and Vizio and I see no difference. The most notable thing I saw was dark corners but again that was on both tv's. I do notice a huge difference in picture when I stream a movie from my digital collection vs stream live tv. I think more of the issues in watching live hockey has to do with the limitations broadcast itself.

Its clearly the gray uniformity. I see thick gray lines in the middle of the screen when the camera pans. This is not a problem with my bedroom TV (Samsung RU7100). I don't think it's the local dimming either, because I never had a problem watching hockey with my Vizio M or E series TV's. I also tried turning off the local dimming on the TCL, and that didn't help.
Maybe I just got lucky but I have no problem enjoying hockey on mine. Sundays Bruins game looked fantastic regardless of the outcome.
Mine does have a bit of DSE but not enough that it's distracting and I really only notice when I look for it. This set may not have the best motion but it's still very good compared to any thing else it's price range right now.
You can improve motion by insuring any extra processing is turned off (Action Smoothing, Natural Cinema, LED Action Clarity). It won't be as good as a premium set at 3 or 4 times the cost, but I don't think you can find a better TV value for $500.

Maybe I got lucky, but I'm watching a Flyers-Islanders game right now and it looks terrific. BTW -- I have a 65" LG C9 in my family room. It's better, but not $1500 better.

Mine is so distracting, you can't ignore it.
