One of the main reasons why people choose PSA, SVS, HSU over the Monolith subs is customer service. The aforementioned companies (especially PSA and SVS) have outstanding customer service. Monoprice on the other hand, not so much.

For one, if there is a problem with the amp on a Monolith sub, the company does not carry replacement parts and makes you send the whole sub in for replacement. Not so fun when it weighs 150+ lbs and you threw away the packaging long ago. No other ID company does this. Also, only the original purchaser is covered under warranty, whereas other companies cover the sub not the owner. In addition, SVS, PSA offer trial periods for their subs with free shipping both ways if you don't like it and SVS has a trade in program as well....Monoprice does not.

Just some examples of why the Monoprice subs are not favored by some in this space, even though their offerings are quite good for the price.
There is no reason other than HSU being a known name and they have been around longer. Performance and price wise (based on the stronger amp and THX cert), the Monolith beats their equivalent sub. HSU doesn't list RMS db or distortion % numbers where the Monolith does.

HSU also measures at 1m to pad their db numbers where Monolith measures at 2m and gets nearly the same measurement.
It's nice to reward yourself for earning money. But, it's always wise to save at least 50% of your income so you can retire early and then spend the rest on subwoofers if you can sneak it past your significant other.

Thanks for posting. Looks like all their sealed subs have a sale. Monolith subs don't drop much so if you need a sealed this seems good. I'm holding out for a deal on the 15" ported. Big space to fill

Fantastic price. If I didn't already have something similar, I'd be all over this. Similar powered subs are around $1,200-1,500.

No thanks, I'll take a HSU or a PSA over this.

Hi.. just curious, could you let me know why? I have been thinking of upgrading my dual Klipsch sealed subs and the ported Monoliths are something I am looking at, along with the SVS PB4000. Monolith subs are consistently well rated, so any specific reason you prefer the HSU over this?

LOL! Not me. Google the dozens of performance reviews that prove the Monolith lineup takes the lead in the overall performance per dollar ratio. Nothing new there...

Agreed. All things being equal, ALWAYS choose HSU/PSA/SVS for customer service (esp. SVS/PSA), warranty, and upgradability, and price protection (svs). Monoprice Monolith subs are excellent performers, but pray you don't run into any issues. While I wouldn't have a problem owning a Monolith, it would have to be at a "steal" of a price to compensate for a lesser customer service experience.
