All $799's are out of stock (and the $799 price is $200 off, not $300 off). You can get them 3rd party on Amazon for $829.

Link? Couldn't find them.

They're available at Best Buy for $799 as well: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/micr...Id=6374327

I have the 13" i7 16GB. I don't think battery life is terrible but have a dell laptop with dedicated GPU and for work the higher end macbook pro. So obviously not comparing the other ultrabooks.

I actually love the SL3. Mine is metal. Fantastic feel overall with great keyboard. The touchscreen is a plus. Wasn't a fan of some of the XPS design.

It's not too hard to replace the SSD, unless you're a novice:

Enjoy your Dell laptop. I can't remember the last time I was happy with one. I've been through plenty at work; XPS and Latitude.

Laptops are all about compromises, ultrabooks in particular. I'm glad to give up some battery life for the screen and performance.

We have (almost) nothing but Surface Pros, Laptops, and Books at our office, and our staff travels internationally all the time. They're used as main workstations by all but a few folks.

Out of all the dozens of devices, I've only seen poor battery life on one or two of them. (Unfortunately, my SL1 i7 1TB was one of them, but I've since upgraded to SL3.)

The XPS 13 is decent, but good luck with Dell docks. Ugh. Surface Docks aren't perfect but at least they aren't Dell docks.

I agree with you and I think the build quality on Microsoft products are excellent.

Build quality sure, but I guess it would be software that fails for me. I had a BSOD within 30 minute of turning on my SP7 for the first time and have had several since.. yet it passes hardware testing. There are also tons of people complaining about slow and high latency wifi after waking from sleep on Microsoft latest tablets/laptops. I also have intermittent screen flickering on my SP7.. This is stuff that I never dealt with on my $300 dell.

No point buying this as a laptop.
Terrible battery life.
Also ssd and battery are not easy to replace.
Better off buying xps 13.
The XPS has the terrible 16:9 screen format.

The 4:3 of a Surface laptop makes me more than happy to sacrifice a little battery life.

Amazon has them for the same discount. If you have an Amazon Prime credit card, you would get 5% back. And don't forget the $1 digital credit for no rush shipping. :-P

Surface Laptop 3, 256GB [amazon.com]

If you're interested in the Microsoft Complete extended warranty but purchase it from somewhere else, they will sell it to you if you bring the laptop in to a Microsoft store. At least they do that with Best Buy. I'm assuming they will with Amazon as well.

Does anyone have any experience with the 4 yr extended warranty that Amazon offers from Asurion, LLC? It's only $149, same as Microsoft's 2 yr extended warranty.

I would caution planning on replacing for a 1tb. I love my SL3 but a few things with replacement of the ssd.

While not exactly difficult, it's not trivial as it should be replacing an ssd. However, the main issue is finding a 1TB M.2 2230
