I don't need it, and I don't really know if I'd use it, but I do sort of want it.

Just a heads up for those looking to cut standard roofing metal panels with these... They don't work well and can't get over the ridges. The best thing I've found is double blade circular saws. I got one at harbor freight pretty cheap and it cuts like butter until the blades dull.

Isn't that bad for metal roofs? From what I heard you want to shear metal, cutting it with a circular blade will leave the cut edges with burrs or with foreign metal leading to rust.

As long as they're not thicker than 18 gauge.😉

If I bought this, I would never use it. And then 2 or 3 years from now, I'd try and fabricate a reason to use it and it wouldn't go well. I'd probably mess up whatever I was working on, but I'd still be all smug about having had this tool for that purpose.

Correct, with a standard blade and standard circular saw. The double cut saw leaves a smooth cut. The blades are counter-rotating. If you're doing it full-time you probably would have some pro-grade power shears if you want to avoid the old fashioned way, but I only do metal roofing occasionally.
