Oh yes, this price is unbeatable IMHO. Say you get the 10 gallon one. I bought 2 of them 2 months ago when they were on sale. You get the tank, filter, hood and lights, a heater, net, and thermometer for just $32.50. I love supporting mom & pop businesses but I might buy say fish from them because tanks, chemicals, food, and other supplies are available much cheaper on Amazon, eBay, and other online sites. I'm on a budget and just can't afford not to save money buying from the big retailers and e-tailers.

A local mom & pop store this might run about

$15-$20 for a 10gal tank
$20-$30 for hood & lights
$15-$25 for a heater
$3-$5 for a thermometer
$3-$5 for a net

So even PetSmart's regular price of $65 will likely be cheaper than most if not all mom & pop shops.

Each one of the starter kits is a unbeatable deal but the 5.5 gallon limits what fish you can add and doesn't come with a heater so I'd really recommend buying a 10 gallon minimum and if you have the space and budget, get a 20 gallon or larger, I mean the 55 gallon kit is only $100 but might weigh over 600 pounds when filled with water, rocks/substrate, decorations, etc so you need to buy a stand or something that can support the weight. A 10 gallon or 20 gallon can go on lots of counters, tables, end tables, dressers, etc...that can support 100-200 pounds or so of weight.
Haha ok these days YouTube is full of tons of invaluable information as well just search starting my first aquarium or something. And search fish nitrogen cycle. You should cycle your tank before you add fish and depending on if you use chemicals or substrate or something from a friend's aquarium it can take days to months. You can do a fish in cycle but most prefer cycling without fish.

The only problem with these kits is that the filters are pretty crappy. Keep en eye on here, and you'll likely find some deals on better filters.

And again, I still say that if you need a whole kit of everything you need at once, you'll likely find some GREAT deals on Craigslist. While there are plenty of people charging crazy high prices, if you're patient, you can often find crazy great deals there. Sometimes even a whole setup for free! Every single aquarium I've ever bought has been from Craigslist.

The top fin HOB filters work great for me. Even if you swap it out for another filter or opt to use sponge filters you can't beat the deal on a brand new setup. I check Craigslist here but lots of the free stuff is scratched, broken, leaking, or really dirty Frown With persistence though you can find some great deals on new/used stuff on Craigslist too though.
