I'm really enjoying this Lenovo tablet. The screen is gorgeous, bright and sharp. The speaker which I was originally concerned about is surprisingly really good for 1 speaker at the top. It can get quite loud so I never really go beyond 70%. The user interface is really clean and has the stock Android user experience that I like from my pixel 3a/Moto z2 force. The performance of mediatek processor is really good too. Very fast and snappy. I ran antutu and the score is pretty much identical to the Samsung Tab A 10.1" which retails for $229.99 and is on sale for $179.99 and not too far off from Moto z3 play (Snapdragon 636). The mediatek doesn't come near to my pixel 3a or Moto z2 force (Snapdragon 835) and nor should it. Real world test I can't see much difference but in gaming, I'm sure the difference is more noticeable. I don't play much demanding 3d games. I'm more casual gamer. Battery life is amazing and really lives up to their hype. Camera? Very solid and it is definitely a 13mp camera. Antutu even stated 13mp. Ultimate portability factor with size and weight. Great hardware build and it reminds me of my iphone but much bigger. Lots of pros that I can go on and on..... Cons? It streams in HD and I watched lots of HD from various video channel apps and Kodi. They look awesome but it seems I can only get DVD SD quality from prime (assuming Netflix too). I ran an DRM info app and it says L1 so it should play in HD but it doesn't. My pixel 3a, Moto z2 force and older Samsung tablet also doesn't stream Prime in HD either but my laptop, desktop and iPad does. Weird. Hopefully an update can fix that. Not big deal for me as I don't watch prime on my phones or tablets. I use fire stick. Another con has nothing to do with the tablet but more with my comfort factor holding it like a phone. Because the tablet is wider than a phone my fingers are stretched out so it isn't as comfortable as holding a phone. The 10 ounce Lenovo is still much better with comfort and portability factor than using any 2.5-4 pound laptop or a 1 pound 10" tablet/iPad. I have a 2017 iPad with fintie case and it weighs 1.8 pounds. Some people bring up usb-c but it isn't big deal for me as I have plenty of Bluetooth headphones, speakers and ps4 controller that still use micro USB.
$119 vs $399, who are you kidding here?
As someone who owns iPad, Samsung tablet, fire tablet and this Lenovo tablet, this is how I see it. If you prefer the larger screen and really enjoy iOS over Android, go for the $250 iPad. My 2017 iPad is barely used because of my Lenovo tablet even though the Lenovo is less powerful. If you prefer the 10.1" larger screen of android and watch lots of Prime/Netflix, consider Samsung Galaxy Tab A but the Samsung and the Lenovo score similar antutu. I bought this Samsung for my cousin for $159.99 and played with it. I won't pay anything more than that as it does have 2GB memory. Forget the $199.99 current price on Best Buy. I would take a Samsung tablet over Fire tablet. While the Fire tablet HD 10 is more powerful than the Samsung and Lenovo, it is really made for the Amazon Fire OS system. Yes I put the Google store on my fire tablet and I would later flash it. There is too much bugs, compromises and it isn't polished user experience. If you have no interest in Google store apps and just want to watch movies and shows on a basic Amazon interface, it could be fine especially for a child. As for the Lenovo? #1. Form factor. You get the 8" form factor which is actually more of PRO than a 10" screen. It hits that sweet spot right between a 6" phone and the 10" tablet. Just right for portability and comfort and yet large enough screen to enjoy videos and type. #2. Stock Android experience... I prefer it over iOS. We can go for days about android vs iOS but I can do more stuff that I simply can't do on iOS. The same reason why I prefer my Pixel 3a over my iPhones. #3 Storage... I got my videos, documents, pictures, music, etc. on my 128gb microSD card. I really don't have that option from my 32gb iPad 2017. That is huge. #4 Battery life... This has insane battery life. It smokes all my other devices (laptops/tablets/phones) in this department by huge margin. I find battery life to be very important factor. It lives up to its stated battery life (up to 18 hours browsing time) or really close to it from my experience. I find charging to be annoying especially if a device is a slow charging device like my iPad. I want a device that has great battery life and charges quickly and the Lenovo hits that mark.

This is a great tablet that has been getting lots of use from me. Join MyLenovo Rewards Program for more savings and also look for an additional 12% reb@te. For more information about the device, you can look at the older slickdeal threads.

I ordered the Moko Case Lenovo Tab M8 on Amazon for $9.99. It is for HD version but it fits for FHD version as well. The charging port cutout is centered for the HD version and FHD version has the charging port on bottom right which partially covers or makes it tight to charge. I will simply cut a little piece off with my Dremel. This case covers the rear flash. I could just measure distance and drill a little hole in the case. The flash is 7/16" below the center of the camera and I would use a 1/4" drill bit size. Cut & drill is pretty simple. The various case brands are selling the same design case and the difference between HD and FHD tablet case is so minimal that they probably won't make the FHD case in the future..... This Moko tri-fold case, silicone case and universal cases are pretty much the only case options right now. I think this tri-fold case will get the job done.

Update: I used a grinding stone bit with my Dremel. The grinding stone worked really well. It is even a 1/4" wide so it cleaned up the 1/4" drill bit hole nicely. I absolutely needed to grind out the charging port because there was no way would the supplied micro-USB or my other micro-USB cables would fit with the case on. If you do this, DO NOT grind/drill with the tablet in the case. I'm very happy with the Moko case now.

Have anyone try playing movie media files (.avi, .mkv, .mp4, etc) on it or off the micro SD card? I've been looking to get one solely to do this. Thanks.

So would you choose this or the Amazon Fire HD 10 for mainly (color) comic books/reading books in general? And also, little else besides streaming and occasionally watching downloaded movies and perhaps some
music (through a BT speaker)...? Besides the Fire being about 2 inches bigger, if anyone has any input I'd be glad to hear it.

My two cents based on experience with an older lenova tablet and a fire is to go with this one. Way more flexibility with the Android vs amazon experience.

I have very limited ideas of what Android truly is (iPhones since the first one came
out, iPads scattered here and there) and I use Amazon prime video, Amazon music and Amazon in general often...but as a tablet, would this be better overall - especially for comic books/ebooks and watching movies?

Get vlc player or km player from the app store. They can play most video formats.
