Another "Bonded Leather" junk chair.

It should be ILLEGAL to use the word Leather in the description in any way, as this is in reality a plastic coated cloth chair made to look like leather, that is GUARANTEED to peel of within several years of use.

Avoid unless you like throwing money away!

I have a similar chair. Lazyboy though. I got it from sam's club like 5 years ago. Yes, the material has peeled. No, it does not effect me in anyway. I sit in the chair for hours a day and can hardly notice the peeling material while I'm using it. I could upgrade, and this would be a nice choice at the price point. I do think it is sad they choose to use this type of material on a lot of office chairs, but I think that is probably a choice they make on purpose. They want you to buy another chair when it peels! Big Grin

What I don't understand is why don't they just use a cloth type material like they use for seats in cars? Bonded leather is junk...

Do you by chance have a suitable alternative to this chair? I've been looking for a replacement for mine for a while and I'm trying to avoid the peeling leather.

Of course real leather is nicer, and of course more expensive. Getting 3 years out of a $100 chair that gets used daily seems like a pretty good deal for many people in many offices.

That's totally fair. Peeling aside, this chair is comfy and functional. It still gets used everyday and the cushions have held up. My partner is 6'4" and it fits him well. The peeling does eventually make a mess (the little black pieces get everywhere in the house), but we got a spandex chair cover from amazon and fixed / covered up the problem. All in all, I don't regret the purchase, but will be wary of bonded leather in the future.

After a year bonded leather starts to disintegrate and you can't even donate the chair to Goodwill because they'll refuse it. So add in the cost of taking it to the dump.

Do yourself a favor and get one of these. Upholstery grade fabric is 10X better then bonded leather.

I have this chair. First chair that has never broke on me (usually the wheels snap off due to the plastic around the casters) but the flaking is horrible.

I have flecks of this stuff all over my house. I put a car seat cover over it to contain it, but the arms are still peeling.

If they could just get a material that doesn't crack, this would be the greatest office chair in history, but I can't recommend it with the way it flakes

We have dozens of these where I work. The arms have spots that peeled off on a majority of them, the hydraulics are shot in almost all, and at least a third of them have almost worn through the fabric. They have been in use for around 5 years. They were significantly more expensive when we got them, and at the price point we paid, they were definitely not worth it. These chairs are generally well reviewed, but we have not had good luck with them.

Refurbished? Honestly I'd rather sit on a new "bonded junk" chair for 3 years rather than forever on someone else's swamp a$$ residue.

I don't think it is unreasonable at all to ask a $100 chair to last longer than three years of daily use. Why have we allowed ourselves to accept the false "reality" that products should not last? That does not have to be the case. Is it often the case? Yes. Does it have to be the case? Absolutely not. I have a cloth covered office chair that I bought for under $100 that I am sitting on right now 6 years after buying it and it is still looking and functioning perfectly. We will definitely keep getting junk like this to purchase as long as we keep buying it, telling ourselves that is just the way it has to be. Vote with your wallet; if we all avoided these cheap bonded leather crap, they would eventually make up less of the market.
